Jason Day is currently one of the most talked-about figures in golf. The reason behind this is his comeback at the 2024 John Deere Classic after an absence.
Day originally made his debut in 2006 at the John Deere Classic as a 19-year-old. During an interview prior to this year’s edition, Jason Day shared a hilarious story from the week of his debut when they were staying at a Super 8 hotel. There the air conditioning unit had fallen out of the wall, leaving a hole via which one could crawl out of the room.
So, this was my first start as a professional golfer. I still remember it. Actually, I think we might have stayed down at the Super 8 hotel somewhere. Well, I think back then, I think your AC unit fell out of the wall. ... And then my caddie at the time, Colin, you walk into his room, and it has a heart-shaped, like bathtub right next to the bed. It was high-rent stuff back then. It was great. No, I enjoyed it. I got it for free, so I'm not complaining. When you get something for free, you can't complain.Jason Day said
He also recalled his caddie Colin’s room, which had a heart-shaped bathtub next to the bed, joking that it was “high-rent stuff” but enjoyable since it was free. One of the moderators recalled waking up with a dog on their bed during the same event and everyone in the room burst into laughter.
Despite the humble beginnings, Day has since gone on to achieve great success on the PGA Tour, amassing 13 victories and earning over $60 million in career earnings. He is one of only 11 golfers to have achieved this feat.
