Jason Kelce could not wrap his head around the Giants fans’ animosity toward Saquon Barkley. The retired NFL center was at the ESPN booth when the Pro Bowl running back returned to MetLife Stadium on Sunday for the first time since leaving the Giants camp in the summer.

Ever since the Giants fans have been angry with Barkley. Some even went as far as saying that he was dead to them because he chose to join direct rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelce is well aware of everything, but the idea of fans hating a former player is foreign to him.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why Giants fans hate Saquon for what happened, and not the Giants organization for the fact he is an Eagle. They have absolutely no one to blame other than the Giants ownership and management decisions for why he is no longer a Giant.

Seeing a photo of a Giants fan with a modified Saquon jersey which had the word ‘fu**’ above Barkley’s name and number, Kelce had to give back to the Giants fans.

Obviously understand their hate of the Eagles, and desire for him not to succeed, just very odd this energy is directed at him more so than the organization.

After the Super Bowl winner shared his thoughts, fans flooded the comment section with divisive perspectives of their own. However, there was one common theme, and that was that the majority of them did not appreciate Barkley joining the Eagles.

One of them highlighted the reason behind the staunch hate against the former second-overall pick.

We hate him because he chose the enemy. Weak move. Coulda chose the Texans or ravens. Would’ve had a better chance at success and then we could’ve rooted for him. He also tried to play the victim afterward. Another weak move. It’s very valid if you think about it Jason.

Jason posted his response but did not waiver from his stance on blaming the Giants’ organization for Barkley leaving the team.

Understand the hate for him going to the Eagles and that you’ll root against him, there’s tons of guys though that have played with one NFC East team and then end up playing for another. Still feel like this situation is majorities at the hands of the Giants themselves.

Barkley revealed his thoughts about Giants fans booing him and Daniel Jones

Barkley, who went off injured for a few snaps, came back and recorded 17 carries for 176 yards and one touchdown as the Eagles recorded a comfortable 28-3 win over the Giants. After the game, he spoke with an on-field reporter who asked about the atmosphere inside the stadium.

The atmosphere was amazing… I know I was getting booed, but as a competitor that’s the stuff you live for, moments you dream about. IT’S ALL LOVE AT THE END.

Saquon Barkley said

While he had no issue with Giants fans booing him, Barkley was unhappy with Daniel Jones receiving the same treatment when Brian Daboll benched him for Drew Lock.

I know the fans are over it [all the losing], and the fans are tired of the B.S. and the same old stuff. But it’s sad. Because there’s guys who don’t care in this league, and there’s guys who do care. And he’s one of those guys. So it sucks to see that. But he’ll shake back.

Saquon Barkley told Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News

With that defeat, Daboll’s Giants are now 2-5 after seven games, while Nick Sirianni’s Eagles are 4-2 after six games.
