Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce found himself in the middle of controversy following his bold take on baseball after the World Series. On Friday, the 38-year-old clarified his words and claimed that he ‘loves‘ Canada.
The 2025 World Series saw the Toronto Blue Jays, a Canadian team, take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. This was the Blue Jays’ first appearance in the Fall Classic since their back-to-back triumphs in 1992 and 1993.
As for the Dodgers, they entered the series as the defending champions and were looking to go back-to-back and retain their crown. A topsy-turvy best-of-seven series saw the pendulum swing in both sides. In the end, the Dodgers emerged as champions following a 5-4 win in a classic Game 7.
With the wounds still fresh, Jason Kelce went on to make some strong comments. In a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, the Super Bowl 52 champion claimed that “baseball sucks” and questioned why he should be excited about a Canadian baseball team.
You’re telling me I’m supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team and a team that just spends more money than everybody else? Who the f*** cares about either? Both of them spend more money than everybody else… That’s why baseball sucks.

These words of Kelce did not sit well with the MLB fans on social media. Many users blasted him for this take and called him out.
Following this massive backlash, the former center player tried to clear the air on Friday. In a post on X, he claimed that he was “bamboozled” by his social media team and blamed them for not telling him the whole story.
Guys, I love Canada, I have been bamboozled by our social team that failed to show the whole story. How could I not love poutine, maple syrup, and beavers!! I was actually rooting for the Blue Jays in a World Series that I didn’t care about.

Later in the post, he would direct his aim at the Dodgers’ back-to-back triumphs and expressed that he was not invested in caring for a team that had spent the most money and built a super team.
As per Spotrac, the Dodgers had the highest payroll in the league in 2025 at over $350 million. The Blue Jays sat in 5th during the World Series with a $255 million payroll.
Jason Kelce throws in name of Yankees while claiming that he does not even hate the Dodgers
After claiming that he loves Canada, Jason Kelce shifted his aim towards the Los Angeles Dodgers. After a user on X called him out for hating the Dodgers, the 6-time First-team All-Pro threw in the name of the New York Yankees.

The Dodgers have received several criticisms regarding their spending. Many have complained about their financial disadvantage and urged the implementation of a salary cap.
In a tweet on X, Kelce expressed that he hates the system that allows “such inequality” in competitive fairness. He then pointed out that most of this comes from his deep-rooted hatred for the Yankees.
I don’t even hate the dodgers specifically, Id do the same thing if I was in their position… I just hate a system that allows for such inequality in competitive fairness across an entire league…And them winning two years in a row is just a gross reminder of that. A lot of this honestly is just deep rooted hatred for the Yankees growing up

While Jason Kelce may not have been impressed with the World Series, the same cannot be said about his younger brother, Travis Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs star labelled the Fall Classic as “awesome” and claimed that it was back-and-forth baseball.
The Dodgers will return in 2026 with one aim in their minds: a three-peat of the World Series. Only 4 times in MLB history has a team won the World Series in 3 or more successive seasons.
Unsurprisingly, the New York Yankees are the ones who have done it the most. The Bronx Bombers have three-peated the title on 3 occasions (4-peat from 1936 to 1939, 5-peat from 1949 to 1953 and 3-peat from 1998 to 2000). The Athletics are the other team to do so, having won 3 straight championships from 1972 to 1974.
