The Olympics are scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in 2028. The city has been preparing to host the coveted event with full fervor. As the preparations for facilitating all major events continue to be underway, there is one question on the minds of all NFL fans: Who will feature on Team USA for the flag football event?

This will be the first time that the sport will be played at an Olympic level. Since the NFL has the best football players in the world, it is only natural that Team USA picks the best to go against the best. The selection process has yet to begin. So far, USA Football has still not voted in the necessary number of directors to its board. Once that concludes, only then will the team selection begin.

The NFL has given its full support to USA Football to pick players it deems the best fit to represent the nation in the Olympics. However, there is a national flag football team with players who represent the country in international games. The team’s quarterback, Darrell Doucette III, in particular, has been vocal about picking Team USA’s flag football roster from the national team.

This has resulted in confusion among the masses on how to pick the best team without leaving anybody out. Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce believes the best way to sort this issue out would be by organizing an NFL vs. Team USA Flag football showdown.

These players do not think that NFL players should be playing, they think they should be playing at it…I’m kind of on board with these guys playing. Let’s just have these guys play an NFL team that’s picked, and maybe the best team (that) wins represent the USA.

Jason Kelce said on the latest episode of the New Heights Show.

A Team USA vs. Team NFL showdown would boost the excitement around the introduction of flag football in the Olympics

His proposal is a thought that continues to be on the minds of thousands of fans across the nation. What’s to lose by allowing the athletes to prove themselves? The players would not object to such a proposal either. It will be harder for the NFL players to adapt to the game immediately. Flag football, although similar to conventional football, is governed by a different set of rules.

Jason Kelce’s suggestion is brilliant, but it is unlikely that such an event will happen. There is a lot of ambiguity surrounding the selection process. USA Football has not announced any procedure to pick the team just yet. Darrell Doucette III made headlines after he directly said that the NFL players need to stay out of the Olympics.

“This is a sport that we’ve played for a long time, and we feel like we are the best at it…We don’t need other guys.”

Doucette III said, indicating that the flag football squad deserves this opportunity. Note that this is the quarterback of the squad that has won five straight world championships. So these are professional athletes who know what they are doing when it comes to flag football. At the same time, it would be wrong to completely exclude NFL players since they serve as a boost in viewership and promote the sport.

Fans should expect a roster filled with the best NFL players and the best flag football players. The team will have plenty of time to practice until 2028. The Olympic ‘Dream Team’ will be expected to win a gold medal and dominate. Anything less will be disappointing. It will be interesting to see how the first hybrid Flag Football team fares on the international stage.
