When football fans tuned in to watch the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys, little did they expect Jalen Carter to start his third season in such a manner.
The defensive lineman decided it was in his team’s best interest if he could rattle Cowboys QB Dak Prescott before they started the game. He might have some logic, considering the highest-paid player in the league has a history of playing well against the Birds.
It was a good back-and-forth argument between the two until the Georgia alum spat onto his opponent’s jersey. The QB signaled towards the officials, and they threw Carter out of the game.
Losing their best defensive lineman before the 1st snap was a major blow. Rightfully, Eagles legend Jason Kelce decided to chime in on this as fans raged on social media.
This is the most wild start to an NFL season of all time. First play of the game, one player is carted off, the other ejected. I mean everyone knows you don’t spit, you swallow obvi.

The team’s former center understood well and clearly that the Eagles’ defense would struggle without Jalen Carter’s presence in the middle of the pack. He is a 3-down player who is compared to the great Aaron Donald.

Kelce knows losing such a game-wrecker that early could end up biting the Super Bowl LIX champions. Moreover, he is also aware that the 24-year-old will face the NFL’s wrath, with a possible suspension and fines incoming.
Jalen Carter’s penalties will depend on how he addresses the situation
With his ejection, Jalen Carter will earn a de facto one-game suspension. The real question is how many more games could he miss. It all depends on how the Florida native addresses the situation.

The safest measure for him is if he apologizes to Dak Prescott and to the league immediately after the game. The sooner he shows remorse, the better. If he delays what he either way has to do, the league will look to send a message.
The problem for Carter is that the NFL does not have a surefire method to address this. Therefore, they could do as they pleased. With conversations in the offseason focused on respect among players and opponents, the league could hit the young star hard.
He will, anyway, miss the Super Bowl LIX rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 14th. The last time they played, he was instrumental in wrecking Patrick Mahomes‘ rhythm. This time, the Eagles have to find someone else to do that job.
Eagles-Cowboys put up a 1st-half offensive show
After Jalen Carter was ejected, Dak Prescott led his Dallas Cowboys to a touchdown. On the next play, Jalen Hurts led his home team to level the score.
Those plays set the tone for what would be an offensive show in the 1st half. Early in the 2nd quarter, the Cowboys marched 88 yards to score another touchdown.
On the next play, the Eagles returned the favor, with Hurts notching his second rushing TD. Again, the away team came back down the field, but could not do enough to get to the end zone. They settled for a field goal.
Once the Eagles’ offense came back out, they knew they had a golden chance to build a lead and quickly went to task, driving 71 yards to reach Dallas’ 15-yard line.
Finally, it was time for the No. 1-ranked player in the NFL Top 100 to score his first touchdown of the season. Saquon Barkley ran 10 yards for the score, sending the Eagles into their 1st lead of the game.
With less than a minute left in the 1st half, the Dallas Cowboys did not want to squander a chance. After reaching the Eagles’ 35-yard line, they handed the ball over to kicker Brandon Aubrey.
He casually kicked the 53-yarder home to reduce the deficit to 1 point before heading into their locker room. Both teams scored on every drive and amassed 41 points in that half.
