As Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce contemplates his future in the NFL, he is turning to someone who understands the weight of the decision—his older brother, Jason Kelce. The former Philadelphia Eagles center hung up his cleats after a divisional playoff loss in the 2023 season.
At 35, Travis Kelce faces a crossroads following a disappointing end to the 2024 season. Despite securing three Super Bowl victories and setting multiple franchise records, the dwindling form has become increasingly difficult to ignore. The Chiefs have reportedly given him until mid-March to determine whether he will return for another season or step away from the sport.
Jason Kelce, speaking on The Steam Room podcast with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson, shared how he has been helping his younger brother assess his options. Drawing from his own experience, he has provided Travis with a detailed breakdown of what retirement entails.
We’re similar people, but we also have different ways of thinking about things. Sometimes I can overanalyze situations, and my brother has this way of being like, ‘Hey, do you want to play or do you not want to play?’ He says something like don’t worry about all these minor things. And nine times out of 10, he’s right about everything.

The bond between the Kelce brothers has been a defining element of their careers, and both have left an indelible mark on the NFL. The Kelce siblings have been pillars of their individual teams while being star-value players in pop culture as well.
Travis Kelce already has his mind made up about next move
Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs came really close to making NFL history. The Chiefs were the first team to reach a Super Bowl after back-to-back titles. They stood on the edge of registering themselves as the biggest dynasty in the history of the league with a three-peat before the Philadelphia Eagles held them to a lopsided loss.

Although Travis hasn’t publicly disclosed his intentions, Jason Kelce believes his brother already has a sense of what his next step will be.
I’m overanalyzing his decision for him. I’m like, ‘All right, if you do this, you can do that, and if you do that, you can do this.’ I think Travis probably already knows in his heart what he wants to do. That’s the reality.
Travis Kelce quipped
Jason’s retirement has provided a potential roadmap for Travis, who must now decide whether to follow a similar path or continue competing at the highest level. Following his retirement, Jason has shifted his attention to broadcasting and content creation, especially the New Heights podcast with Travis.
Travis Kelce could also transition from the football field to the entertainment industry given that he’s already popular among the masses and younger audience. The cash-rich romance between Travis and ‘Blankspace’ singer Taylor Swift has made him a household name across the states and the globe as well.
