After the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl hopes were dashed last season, Jason Kelce made quite the headlines for a playoff game he attended to support his brother, Travis Kelce. This time, as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to face off against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game, Jason finds himself unable to be there for Travis.

Following a slow regular season, speculations about Travis’ retirement have intensified. Although he silenced his critics with a standout performance in the divisional playoff feat over the Houston Texans, Travis has decided to carefully consider his retirement options after the Super Bowl.

Despite the possibility that this could be Travis’ last AFC championship game, Jason has to be at Lincoln Financial Field working for ESPN during the NFC championship game between his former team and the Washington Commanders. While Jason is thrilled to be there for the Eagles, he’s quite upset about missing his brother’s potentially last conference championship game, expressing his mixed feelings.

I’m working ESPN, I’ll be at the tailgate for the Birds’ game, which I’m excited about… I’m really fired up to be there for that. “But I’m kind of torn. I want to be there for the Eagles, but I also want to be there for my brother. I don’t know how many more he has. We’re kind of flying by the seat of our pants, we might be able to see both of us here again hopefully.

The future Hall of Famer is standing at the same place where his mother, Donna, was back in 2022, when both her sons’ conference championship games were scheduled on the same day. But she didn’t give up; she managed to attend both games, thanks to the sufficient time gap between them, which won’t be possible for Jason this time around.

Mama Kelce arrives in Kansas City to support Travis Kelce ahead of big game

Although Jason may not be able to support his brother, his mother aka Mama Kelce has already arrived in Kansas City for the big game. And like always, the Chiefs’ one of the biggest fans is thrilled to see the showdown between two equally capable quarterbacks at Arrowhead Stadium.

I can’t wait for it. Every year this has been so special that they’ve been able to get to this point. And I’m just really happy. It’s Kansas City! I know this is gonna be scary because it’s gonna be close. Josh and Pat [Patrick Mahomes] are pretty equal so it’s gonna be a good game.

Additionally, Travis’ sweetheart, Taylor Swift, is reportedly attending the AFC championship game, which could bring Kansas City a step closer to achieving the historic three-peat. According to some analysts, the team that wins in this matchup will be the one to secure the Super Bowl trophy as well.
