Luka Doncic and Jason Kidd
The Dallas Mavericks’ fanbase is not letting their board, their GM Nico Harrison, and anyone who was involved in the recent Luka Doncic trade rest easy. It is quite understandable as the Mavs sent their fan favorite and one of the best NBA players to the Los Angeles Lakers. This was in return for the 31-year-old Anthony Davis. In addition, Mavs HC Jason Kidd made his intentions clear regarding his side’s fans.
Kidd discussed his thoughts on the Mavericks’ treatment of supporters who have voiced disapproval of the team’s current leadership. This includes Harrison and president Patrick Dumont, at a recent press conference. Jason Kidd responded as follows when questioned about jeers and what constitutes appropriate fan behavior:
Dealing with grief. We have the best fans in the league, and they can come and cheer and boo. If they don’t like the way we’re playing, if we’re being lazy, but I don’t think the fans are booing the guys are playing as hard as they can…They have a right to speak on what they believe…I think it’s fair, that’s why they’re fans. They paid to come watch the game. As long as it’s not disturbing the next fan that’s come to watch the game and cheer the guys on.

This response provided positive feedback from the Mavs’ fanbase. This was mostly because Kidd spoke to the fans with a sentimental approach rather than a professional one. When Kidd refers to the response as “grief,” he instantly connects with the Dallas fan base by recognizing and expressing their primary emotion.
Additionally, he acknowledges that he doesn’t think the slurs are directed at his squad. Also, he thinks supporters have the right to demonstrate against actions they disagree with. In the most recent instance, it’s possible that no normal Mavericks supporter would have voluntarily traded Luka Doncic. This was particularly true for the team’s return from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Fans offer positive feedback after Jason Kidd’s recent remarks
Fans positively took Jason Kidd’s words on various social media sites. Having spent the best years of his Hall of Fame professional career in Dallas as their point guard, Jason Kidd is more than just the coach of the Mavericks. With Luka Doncic and the group of players they had assembled around him, he was incredibly successful.
Now, with him not being present in the squad, Kidd has a huge task upon him. His recent remarks during the post-match conference brought out a few positive reactions from the fans. One fan wrote on X, “okay so Jkidd isn’t as tone deaf as Nico got it” Check out some of the reactions below:

As for the Mavericks’ current standpoint, they are 29-26 in the NBA and are 8th in the Western Conference. To add more salt to the wounds, their star defender who came in return for Doncic, Anthony Davis is out injured for the Mavs. All said and done, it now remains to be seen how the Mavs qualify for the NBA Playoffs this season.
