The Indo-Pakistan rivalry on the field has been limited to the ICC and ACC events off late due to the political tensions between the two countries. In the midst of all, former Pakistan cricketer, Javed Miandad has made a bizarre statement that is taking the internet by storm for all the wrong reasons and the netizens simply cannot stop talking about it.
Despite heightened political tensions, exchange tours were planned in 2005 and 2006 but the ghastly attack in 2008 on Taj led to the forever suspension of India’s planned tour in 2009 and any other future engagements which could have happened. To make matters worse, a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team in Lahore in 2009 also led to the suspension of any other international tours happening in Pakistan.
In what seemed like a podcast on Times Algebra, Javed Miandad opened up on how the Indo-Pakistan cricket rivalry can change the relations between the two countries. However, the solution that he provided has made the internet split their sides because he invoked destiny than concrete security solutions.
Death will come when it is destined, it will definitely come. Forget about security and come to Pakistan.Javed Miandad on the Times Algebra podcast
Despite all the recent talks of India and Pakistan happening in a possible neutral venue apart from the ICC events, the authorities have cleared the air around any possibility of any bilateral series happening.
A glance at what happened when India met Pakistan for the last time
In fact, talks are also ongoing about India’s appearance in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 which is to be hosted by Pakistan. Given India’s ongoing run in the T20 World Cup, no statement have been made yet but given the latest rumours and reports, it is very unlikely that the two will meet each other in the latter’s den.
The latest clash between the two was in the 2024 T20 World Cup where India edged past Pakistan in a thrilling encounter. Despite jitters with the bat, Rishabh Pant’s solid 42 helped India post a fighting total. Then a masterclass by the Indian bowlers spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah stole the show for the Men in Blue.
