- Jaxon Smith-Njigba claims he deserves to be the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL after a successful season.
- He recorded 119 receptions for 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season.
- Currently, the highest-paid receiver is Ja'Marr Chase, with a contract worth $40.5 million per year.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is ready to earn some serious cash after a successful NFL campaign, ending with a victory in Super Bowl LX. While chatting with Jonah Javad of WFAA, the Seattle Seahawks star bluntly declared that he deserves to be the highest-paid wide receiver in football.
The Seahawks went through several big changes last offseason. DK Metcalf was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, while veteran receiver Tyler Lockett entered free agency and took a detour to Tennessee before settling in Vegas.
This exodus of receivers allowed JSN to take center stage in Seattle. With Sam Darnold as QB1, Smith-Njigba racked up the best numbers of his career. He caught 119 passes for 1793 yards and scored 10 touchdowns on 163 targets in the regular season.
I think I deserve to be the highest paid in my position and what I give to the game and my community. I give it my all, and I think that’s worth a lot more.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba told Jonah Javad of WFAA
Currently, the highest-paid receiver in the league is the Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase. Ahead of the 2025 season, Chase signed a four-year $161 million contract, or $40.5 million per year. If JSN were to surpass that amount, the Seahawks would need to pay him at least $41 million/year.
I’m not really too pressed right now to get it done. I know my time is coming, and when we get it done, it’s going to be a great deal. God’s timing is perfect timing. So whenever that may come, we’ll be ready for it.

According to Spotrac, Smith-Njigba is projected to sign a $113 million extension or worth around $37.7 million per-year. It’s not quite what he’s aiming for, but still a lot of money nonetheless.
The 24-year-old’s statement comes a couple of days after Druski sent a formal apology to the All-Pro wideout for messing up his special moment at NFL Honors. The comedian was tasked to announce the name of the new NFL Offensive Player of the Year. However, he struggled to pronounce “Njigba” properly.
Ex-Seahawks receiver reveals why Jaxon Smith-Njigba is such a talented player
After the season JSN has had, there’s no need to question his elite ball catching skills. With the zing of 4.48 second 40-yard dash in his feet, JSN is a nightmare for any secondary.

Former Seahawks wide receiver Bryan Walters summed up Smith-Njigba’s prowess on the gridiron.
JSN’s speed is the same, so one, that makes him dangerous. As a D.B., you can’t tell what route he is running, he’s meshing all routes off of each other. You’re going to make everything look like a go and branch it off that. That’s what JSN does so well.
Bryan Walters said (H/T: Sports Illustrated)
JSN did not have a great impact during the Super Bowl in San Francisco. Against the Patriots, he only managed 4 catches on 10 targets for 27 yards. Running back Kenneth Walker stepped up to take the load of making the Seahawks tick. Walker rushed 27 times for 135 yards and also caught 2 passes for 26 yards. The NFL awarded Walker the Super Bowl MVP.
