Giants Rookie Jaxson Dart Turned to Eli Manning for New York Dining Reservation Before Season

Approaching the New York Giants’ week three matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, Eli Manning revealed a quirky story about rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. Manning could not contain his laughter.
Speaking with ESPN’s Peter Schrager on “The Schrager Hour,” the two-time Super Bowl champion reminisced about his earliest encounters with Dart. He has followed the 22-year-old from his Ole Miss days and later offered him a direct line to ask him “about anything” after the Giants drafted him in the first round.
I told Jaxson [Dart], ‘If you have questions about anything, I’m here for you. Football-related, or when you’re deciding what town you want to live in. This or that.’
Eli Manning told Schrager
Dart misunderstood Manning’s offer. During training camp, Manning received a call from Dart with a request that was not part of the deal.
Turns out, Dart wanted Manning to hook him up with a dinner reservation in one of New York’s finest restaurants.
He goes, ‘Can you get me a reservation at 4 Charles tonight at 6:30?’
Manning said
Manning turned him down even though Dart reached out to him.
I’m not your reservations guy. You have to earn the right to call and make the reservation.

Eli Manning has walked the same path as Jaxson Dart.

He urged Dart to call him if he ever needed anything.
Help with a reservation at 4 CHARLES PRIME RIB was not what he meant.

Dart called the right guy for the reservations. However, he can book as many as he wants if he brings the Super Bowl back to the Giants.
For now, he has to wait for his chance behind veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.
Jaxson Dart might be given the chance to start for the Giants sooner rather than later
Despite starting the season with a 0-2 record, Wilson is set to remain as the starter for the Giants against the Chiefs. Fans campaigned for the Giants to start Dart, as Wilson is only a temporary fix. But Wilson showed pizzazz in the first two games, throwing for 618 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one pick (completing 60% of his pass attempts).

If the Giants traded Wilson away to another team, then it would clear the path for Dart to assume the role of the QB1.
Even if quarterback Russell Wilson is playing well by midseason, there’s a possibility the Giants will decide to switch to first-round pick Jaxson Dart—either because they think he’s ready to take over or because they’re losing too much and feel they need to change something to produce a spark.
ESPN‘s Dan Graziano wrote in a recent piece
However, head coach Brian Daboll doesn’t want to rush into giving his young quarterback the steering wheel just yet.
Daboll wants Dart to sit and learn from seasoned campaigners like Wilson and Jameis Winston.
He’s got to see the game through the quarterback’s eyes on the sideline. He’s got to be involved in the communication. Each day we’re trying to groom him, and when he has to play, he’ll be ready to play.

Jaxson Dart: Sit and Learn or Play and Learn on the Fly?

There is a "huge value" in sitting. This week's opponent Patrick Mahomes is just some of the evidence. https://t.co/HSKnazgPVt
Dart impressed in the preseason. He completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions, along with a 68 percent completion rate paired with a 113.1 passer rating (best among rookie quarterbacks).
The Giants have the hardest schedule on the NFL calendar. Wins will not come easily, as they found out in the first two games against Washington and Dallas.
