New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo sustained a horrific injury during the Big Blue’s game against the defending champions Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8 Sunday. The rookie sensation, who has been one of the highlights of the Giants in a very long time, was visibly devastated and hurt as he was moved to the sidelines on crutches.

In the short time together, Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo have formed a solid chemistry that has been taken up by everyone. The quarterback-running back duo may not be the best in terms of their production or dangerous, but their camaraderie has given the struggling Giants hope and the fandom something to look forward to. Considering their bond, there was no doubt that Dart was equally pained by seeing his close friend injured and in pain.

Dart looked extremely agitated, looking back at his friend’s ankle, and dropped down in disbelief. The rookie quarterback’s face was also scrunched up while he kept sighing and mouthed words. Dart then ran up to him while he was carted off the field and gave a tiny little head-butt to his confidante. As soon as he exited, Fox cameras captured third-string quarterback Jameis Winston with an arm around Dart’s shoulder, seemingly offering words of comfort and encouragement.

Dart admitted that it sucked to see his partner in crime down on the field in the aftermath of the game.

I was devastated. That’s my boy. Seeing him go down and reacting to what happened, it sucks. It’s the worst part of this game.

Jaxson Dart said in the post-game media availability

He later wished well for his friend, who’s scheduled to undergo further tests soon, on his Instagram story as well. Dart shared a post by @nflonprime featuring two of them together and their celly with a caption, “(Heartbreak emoticon) my brother Mann. Got your back no matter what dawg! GODS PLAN.”

Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants will miss their spark

The New York Giants’ probability of making the playoffs are slim to none. They have won just two games in the season and lost six, including Sunday’s clash against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite their unfortunate times, Jaxson Dart was able to inject hope into the team and uplift their spirits with his youthful cheer.

Dart’s ability to do so was heavily influenced by Cam Skattebo, who matched the energy. The Giants looked like a squad that can upset some bigwigs despite one of their star receivers, Malik Nabers, on the out with an ACL injury.

It is no news that Skattebo will miss more than a few weeks of action. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Skattebo was officially diagnosed with a dislocated ankle and was taken to a nearby hospital for additional evaluation. The absence of Skattebo in the squad means that they don’t have their spark for the next few games.

Dart was the one to give his friend this new moniker. Dart explained that the running back doesn’t care for the surroundings and remains true to himself. He elaborated that he understood Skattebo to be a person who’s genuine and does everything to ensure a win.

When you figure out that it’s genuine, you figure out what kind of friend he is, what kind of teammate he is. He’ll do anything it takes to win. That is something that guys really rally around. He’s a spark.

The Giants will face the San Francisco 49ers in the upcoming weeks. After a few back-to-back losses, the Niners would be eager to score a win and reclaim lost dominance in the division and place them better for wildcard positions as well.
