While Jayden Daniels prepares to board a flight to Washington for a top-30 visit to the Commanders training facility, his LSU buddy Malik Nabers might have just dropped a massive hint as to where the Heisman Trophy winner may eventually end up in the draft. And according to Nabers’ secret sources, Daniels may reunite with some old Arizona State friends in the NFL.
During a recent one-to-one on Instagram Live, the two former Tigers discussed several subjects. One of the topics that Nabers could not stop himself from mentioning was Daniels’ rumored NFL franchise.
I am gonna tell you where our boy Jayden is going--Hey, you'll never gonna believe it. He might... He might partner with an old, homey.Nabers interacted with more than 2000 people who were watching the conversation.
Jayden Daniels tried to laugh off this speculation.
Wow, that's what you are gonna do? Ok!Jayden Daniels said
Brandon Aiyuk, Antonio Pierce? Who is Jayden Daniels’ ‘homey’ Malik Nabers talking about?
Before joining LSU, Jayden Daniels spent three seasons playing for the Arizona State Sun Devils, from 2019 to 2021. During that time, he played with several current NFL players. However, the most prominent name that comes to mind is the current Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, who had joined Arizona State as linebackers coach and then defensive coordinator/associate head coach.
Besides the Washington Commanders, who are favorites to land the 23-year-old, per Colin Cowherd, the Raiders are among the bookmakers’ top picks to make a move for LSU No. 5 in the draft. Pierce only has one quarterback, fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell, who played the majority of the 2023 season.
Another name that comes to mind, apart from Pierce, is Brandon Aiyuk. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver is reportedly unhappy in the Bay Area and may seek a trade if he doesn’t get a long-term extension.
Aiyuk gave a hint a while ago, which indicated that he might be interested in playing under his former coach, Pierce. He shared a post on social media along with a set of emojis, which translated into, “Money talks, BS walks.“
This was a nod to Antonio Pierce, who spoke the same words while discussing Josh Jacobs back in March.
Money talks, BS walks, right? And he had to do what’s best for him and his family, and I wish him the best, but that one hurt.Pierce told Heavy.com
But what’s the connection between Daniels and Aiyuk? They played together in the 2019 season at Arizona State, in which Daniels recorded 205 completions for 2943 yards and 17 touchdowns. He never got close to those numbers the following two years he was with the Sun Devils.
The only problem is whether the Raiders can afford to sign Aiyuk. Pierce already has two experienced receivers, Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. Aiyuk coming to the Sin City only happens if they trade one of the two, which is highly unlikely. Adams is one of the best playmakers in the NFL, along with being a fan of the team. Meyers, on the other hand, proved his worth last season, impressing even Adams.
Yet if Jayden Daniels becomes a Raider, he will find one other familiar face at Allegiant Stadium. Cornerback Jack Jones, who played for Arizona State under Pierce from 2019 until his draft in 2022 to New England, signed with the Raiders last season.
