Jayden Daniels throwing a last-second Hail Mary to lead his team to a win has so far been the highlight of NFL Week 8. But in that last moment of bravery that led to the Washington Commanders’ win, were also a couple of inexplicable moments from Chicago Bears corner Tyrique Stevenson.

After the game, a video clip started doing the rounds of social media showing what Commanders’ fans went through in those dying seconds. Their jubilation did send the packed Northwest Stadium into a rapturous cheer. But that clip also showed Tyrique Stevenson’s moments of madness.

As the ball was being snapped, the clip shows the second-year DB taunting the home fans. He points to them, seemingly suggesting that the Bears are about to win. Then waves his hands up, asking them to be louder, and then waves them off as if to suggest that the fans’ noise was not enough to lead their team to a win.

Then he turned around to notice that the ball was in the air. He ran toward his teammates who were waiting to intercept or bat down the ball down. But as he ran, he jumped to swat the ball away and inflict that win.

Little did he realize that his last touch sent the ball into the hands of opposing WR Noah Brown in the end zone. That cemented the Hail Mary that put six points on the board for the Commanders, sealing their win.

What will go against him is that no other Washington Commanders‘ receiver was in position to catch the ball. Stevenson’s teammates had it well covered and even at the highest point of reach, the others were in a better position to bat it down.

Tyrique Stevenson could be in a heap of trouble after helping Jayden Daniels complete his Hail Mary

For Tyrique Stevenson, had the Bears won, it was his shining moment for himself and his defensive backfield teammates. As until that Hail Mary, they did not allow Jayden Daniels to score a touchdown. But his two moments of madness have not only cost his team but could cost him a bit as well.

Pat McAfee has spent a lot of time in locker rooms during his eight seasons in the NFL. He knows all too well that if anything, Stevenson’s teammates and coaches will be bummed at him. The former kicker took to his X account to say what he felt the corner would face.

WOWWWWWWW I’m not 100% sure but.. I think 29’s gonna have a BADDDDD time in meetings this week

The now ESPN broadcaster could not be more right. Especially as his fellow defensive backs had it covered, only for him to mess it up. He tried to play hero ball and ended up costing his team a hard-fought win.

This loss halts their three-game winning streak. Had they won, the Chicago Bears could have continued to win until they faced tough playoff teams in the final eight games. Now the coaching staff might have some tough words for Stevenson before their next game.
