The Washington Commanders defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 in the Wildcard Round at the Raymond James Stadium on Sunday. Commanders QB Jayden Daniels threw 24 completions for 268 passing yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he carried 13 times for 36 yards through the ground.

Jayden Daniels rushed for a crucial first down, setting up Zane Gonzalez’s 37-yard field goal, which bounced off the right upright and went through as time expired. With this, the Washington Commanders secured the franchise’s first playoff victory in 6,945 days. Despite playing with a bandage under his right eye from a facial injury, Daniels became the third rookie quarterback in three years to win a playoff game.

Ahead of the season, the Commanders roped in Dan Quinn as the head coach alongside former Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury as the offensive coordinator. As the Chicago Bears went for the Heisman winner, the Commanders owner Josh Harris and general manager Adam Peters drafted Jayden Daniels to lead the team as the franchise quarterback.

The pivotal changes and a solid back support to build himself, Daniels has proven once again that he’s the man for the job. Moreover, he has given the fans a hope for a better future. The streets of Washington has a man to stand behind and whose jersey they are proud to wear. And his antics have made the Commanders matter. The Commanders is no longer associated with Daniel Snyder’s disgraceful era.

Jayden Daniels understood the fans’ plight and admitted that he feels lucky to have done this for them during an on-field interview with NBC.

Jayden Daniels and his boys head to Ford Field in the next week. Meanwhile, in the other NFC matchup, Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles will play the winners of the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams game tomorrow.
