Jayden Daniels dropped by Crypto.com Arena to watch the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Boston Celtics. A win would have taken the Lakers above the Rockets and just two wins behind the Nuggets in the Western Conference. However, Jaylen Brown and the Celtics came away with a 111-89 win, putting some daylight between them and the Knicks in the Eastern Conference.

Daniels’ night was far from over. As the NFL is on a break, the Commanders quarterback had plenty of time on hand to wait for one of his favorite athletes after the game.

A short clip uploaded by Michael J. Duarte of the California Post revealed that Daniels met with Lakers star LeBron James. James dabbed Daniels and then gave him a tight hug before exchanging a few words. Daniels did not pass up the opportunity to click pictures with the NBA legend.

It was a significant game for James, who scored the 43,000th point of his career. He scored a total of 20 points, 4 rebounds, and made 5 assists, but it wasn’t enough to win the game for the Lakers.

Daniels hails from the Golden State, a place divided into three teams: the Warriors, the Lakers, and the Clippers. JD grew up during a time when the Lakers dominated the NBA, and at the forefront was one of the best to ever touch a basketball, Kobe Bryant.

Kobe [Bryant is], my favorite athlete of all time. Especially growing up in Southern California, watching the Lakers, watching Kobe. So that’s kind of where the inspiration comes from.

Daniels said back in January 2024

Daniels inherited that Mamba spirit, which he showcased during his rookie campaign.

Growing up, you kind of just fall in love with his game and who he is. And then as I got older you kind of fall in love with his mindset and how he approached the game.

JD led the Commanders to their first NFC title game in decades. However, the Eagles proved to be the superior team. The franchise from Philadelphia scored 55 points against the Washington defense, securing a place in the Super Bowl, which they eventually won.

Daniels created massive expectations for himself after winning the Rookie of the Year award. He was touted to go one better during his second year in the league.

However, injuries plagued the former second overall pick throughout the year. A sprained knee in week 2 kept him out for a couple of fixtures. Even after returning to the field, Daniels did not look the same.

In week 7, he suffered a hamstring injury, and two weeks later, he dislocated his left elbow while facing the Seahawks. Washington placed him on the injured reserve list, ending his campaign. The Commanders never recovered from that blow. Just one year after making a trip to the conference championship game, they finished 5-12.

Daniels’ rehab is going smoothly and is expected to start in week one of the new season. But before that, he stirred up controversy by praising the Eagles fanbase.

I love Eagles fans. They just embody what Philly brings. To be able to go out there and play against them… Their environment is kind of like the closest thing you can get to a college environment.

Daniels said

Daniels is 1-1 against the Eagles in the regular season. He has a passer rating of 93.0 with 449 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.
