Commanders’ Jayden Daniels names Patrick Mahomes in his top 5 greatest quarterbacks list over Peyton Manning
In a recent interview with GQ Sports, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels disclosed an interesting Top 5 quarterback's list.

Does Patrick Mahomes make it into the Top 5 quarterback list of all time? He certainly does in Jayden Daniels’ book and that too, ahead of Peyton Manning.
Daniels, who would make his debut as the face of the Washington Commanders franchise in September, was asked to compile a list of quarterbacks that he believes are the greatest of all time. While speaking with GQ, the Heisman Trophy winner started off placing seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady as the GOAT.
He continued by picking Four-time Super Bowl winner, three-time Super Bowl MVP, Two-time NFL MVP, and Hall of Fame San Francisco 49ers Joe Montana.
Next was a surprise inclusion of Patrick Mahomes. It’s not shocking because the Kansas City Chiefs QB deserves to be in the conversation because he has won three Super Bowls and is on the verge of a historic three-peat. Not only that, Mahomes is a three-time Super Bowl MVP and winner of NFL MVP twice since debuting in 2017.
In fourth, Daniels picked former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. ‘The Professor’ placed under Mahomes irked a few football fans. Manning may have one less ring compared to the 28-year-old, but he went toe to toe with Tom Brady and defeated him on several occasions, while Mahomes never did.
The last name on Daniels’ list was former Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick, who made a name for himself by changing the narrative that quarterbacks only have to be good passers to survive in the NFL. The former first-overall pick never won a ring but opened the door for many Black QBs like Daniels who dreamed of playing in the big league.

Jayden Daniels believes his playstyle is similar to a current NFL quarterback’s
Besides naming the top 5 quarterbacks of all time, Jayden Daniels shared another insight about himself. When GQ asked him which current NFL quarterback has a similar playstyle to his, the LSU graduate had the answer ready.
Lamar Jackson.Jayden Daniels said
Bleacher Report’s college scout, Derrik Klassen, labeled Daniels as the quickest quarterback to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
Elite athleticism. Excellent burst, agility, and speed for the position.Derrik Klassen wrote
Jayden Daniels clocks in at 21.8 mph.

If anyone had to guess an NFL QB with similar attributes, then any football fan would point to the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. Even retired Alabama head coach Nick Saban said the same before the draft.
He [Jayden Daniels] steps up in the pocket and if it’s open, he’s taking off. You’re going to have to defend this guy like Lamar Jackson because he is fast.Nick Saban told Scott Van Pelt of ESPN
Nick Saban comps Jayden Daniels to Lamar Jackson and Randall Cunningham and makes the key point that Daniels is a passer who can run as opposed to a runner who can pass. #Commanders pic.twitter.com/SSjDqUlA02

The Commanders picked Daniels as the second overall and they believe to have struck fortune with him. Head coach Dan Quinn is confident that the 23-year-old will be ready by the time Week 1 games arrive.
