The Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles are divisional rivals, and their fans have a dislike for each other. However, for the Commanders’ signal caller, the Lincoln Financial Field and the Eagles fans are a joy.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Daniels expressed his adoration for the environment in the stadium during the Eagles’ games. The 25-year-old quarterback said the Philly atmosphere is most similar to college football, thanks to the obnoxious energy the city brings to its games. Daniels said:

Eagles fans are the most obnoxious fans. That’s the only fans I know. I love Eagles fans. I love them. I mean, they embody what Philly brings and, uh, be able to go out there and play against them, uh, it’s kind of just that thing and like their environment is kind of like the closest thing that you can get to a college football game.

He added that he loves playing against them and defeating them as well. However, Daniels’ statements might not go over well with Commanders’ fans. After a paltry season, marred by inconsistencies and injuries, right after a season when things seemed to be picking up for them, Daniels is not very high on Washington’s favorite lists currently.

In last year’s campaign, the Eagles and the Commanders famously played each other in the NFC Championship game. In the aftermath of the loss to the Eagles, Philly fans were spotted harassing Commanders fans, circling them with taunts, and even snatching a beanie off a guy’s head. Though rivalries and banter between fans make the game interesting, there’s a line when it becomes much more than what it should be.

Daniels, as a young boy who grew up idolizing Donovan McNabb, will definitely have a soft corner for the Eagles. Nevertheless, stating that he loves the energy Philadelphia Eagles fans bring to a stadium, just a year after the celebrations that turned ugly, could anger the Washington fans.

Jayden Daniels is looking for a comeback in 2026

The Washington Commanders had some major changes in the offseason. They parted ways with Kliff Kingsbury, whose playcalling aligned strongly with Jayden Daniels gameplay. The Commanders’ quarterback coach, Tavita Pritchard, left the team to take up a coaching job in Stanford.

In the vacancy left by Kingsbury, the Commanders brought in David Blough, who’s familiar with Daniels but highly inexperienced with playcalling. There’s a power vacuum in their offensive unit, and Daniels has stepped in to give directions and aid the management in building a roster around him.

In a recent interview with Mike Florio and Chris Simms on Pro Football Talk, Daniels admitted he has been quite vocal about the changes he needs on the team ahead of the new season to return to the numbers of 2025 and possibly go two steps further. He also praised Blough and the support he’s been getting from him.

I’ve been very vocal about the stuff I want to do. He’s been open. He tells me all the time that ‘we want to build this offense for you’, so that’s kind of what a quarterback wants to hear. I’m super excited for him to get his opportunity. I know what he can do, and I know the work he puts in. We talk all the time, so I’m super excited to get back out there.

The Washington Commanders, after missing out on the playoffs, are eager to return. They have a fairly easy schedule next season, with just seven matchups against this year’s playoff teams. If Daniels remains healthy and consistent and the team makes the installations they need, the Commanders will be back in the playoffs before we know it.
