The Washington Commanders are coming off a dramatic 30-24 game against the Atlanta Falcons that earned them the highly-anticipated playoff berth. While awaiting the final game to conclude the season, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels appears to be on a well-deserved break. 

Since joining the Commanders as second overall, Daniels has sure stolen the limelight from first overall draft pick, Caleb Williams. With an impressive 11-5 record, he is primed for the postseason after the Commanders qualified for the playoffs.

Since the Week 18 game against the Dallas Cowboys is scheduled for January 5– where Dan Quinn may prefer giving Daniels rest to avoid any risk of injury, the quarterback was spotted relishing an exciting basketball game with his mother, Regina Jackson. The mother-son duo attended the NBA thrilling Eastern Conference showdown, where the New York Knicks outscored the Washington Wizards at 136-132, marking their seventh victory in a row.

Congratulations to all Commanders fans, 11 wins season, qualifying for the playoffs and as my producer Rich Woof just told me in my ears, he doesn’t like that JayD_5 is that close to the action. He wants him bubble-wrapped in a suit because the Commanders have some meaningful football to be playing.

In Sunday’s game against the Falcons, the Commanders not only clinched a playoff spot but their rookie quarterback made headlines for breaking a historic record. After recording 127 yards– as his first game with over 100 rushing yards, Daniels broke former Washington star Robert Griffin III’s record for most rushing yards by a rookie quarterback in the NFL. 

His mother, Jackson couldn’t hold herself from showing the world how proud she was. She retweeted a post by Bleacher Report on her official X account, about Daniels breaking the record by RG3 and wrote, “Blessed,” with two heart emojis. 

Daniels completed the game with 227 passing yards and three touchdowns besides the 127 rushing yards on 16 carries. They are now headed for the final game pagainst divisional rivals, which may suggest an opportunity to secure the divisional title however the Philadelphia Eagles are two wins above the Commanders to clinch the NFC East title.
