Either ex-Arizona State and LSU QB Jayden Daniels suddenly became a USC Trojans fan, or he is dating the women’s basketball team’s star guard JuJu Watkins. Why else would he drop by to watch back-to-back basketball games at the Galen Center?

The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year couldn’t avoid the prying eyes of the camera crew. Dripped in a white oversized sweatshirt with the No. 25 embroidery, Daniels looked around for someone on the court. Perhaps Watkins?

Well, if he was there to watch, Watkins then deserves condolences. Just five minutes into the game against No. 9 seed Mississippi State, JuJu suffered a tragic injury.

It wasn’t her fault or any of the Mississippi players. After taking a 13-2 lead, Kiki Iriafen grabbed a defensive rebound off a blocked shot, and Watkins regained possession. She ran the length of the court, and right before she was about to pull the trigger, two defenders tackled her.

Watkins immediately grabbed her right knee and seemed to be in excruciating pain. She was carried away and didn’t return.

It’s unclear how Jayden Daniels reacted to seeing Watkins down with the injury because the cameras didn’t pick it up. Despite the absence of one of their best players, the Trojans secured a 96-59 win and a fixture against No. 5 Kansas State on Saturday.

The social media was buzzing with Daniels and Watkins dating rumors all weekend. The 24-year-old watched the USC men’s basketball game when Watkins sat next to him in the stands until his mom acted as a third wheel. If they truly are in a relationship, then the injury must be very concerning for Daniels and, not to forget, the Trojans, who are currently the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.

Jayden Daniels met with a basketball legend

The Commanders hit the jackpot when they drafted the Heisman Trophy winner at No. 2 in 2024. He shattered the majority of the previous rookie quarterback records set by Houston Texans CJ Stroud just a year earlier.

Daniels edged the likes of the Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, an ex-LSU teammate; Jacksonville Jaguars WR ex-LSU teammate Brian Thomas Jr.; and New York Giants WR Malik Nabers to become the best offensive rookie.

The Commanders reached the NFC title game for the first time since 1991, but their journey ended at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite the setback, it was a successful year for the Washington franchise, as they found their longtime starter in the shape of Daniels.

Recently, legendary NBA player Magic Johnson, who owns a part of the Commanders, met with Daniels and his mother.

I enjoyed sitting down with our star Quarterback Jayden Daniels and his mom Regina Jackson today talking about this upcoming season and life after football. Commander fans, we have a true leader. It was great to get to know Jayden off the field and listen to his mom’s vision for his brand!

Johnson also expressed his gratitude to the Commanders’ coaching and scouting team for signing Texans standout offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil.

I’m so happy to hear that we have traded for Laremy Tunsil! He’s one of the best left tackles in the NFL and will help protect our superstar QB Jayden Daniels. Super job to our GM Adam Peters.

The best part about the deal was that Tunsil was not even on the market. Hardly any team the Texans were listening for offers until the Commanders snagged him to protect Daniels. Pro Football Focus graded Tunsil last year’s performance 76.5. He also received a pass-blocking grade of 88.6 and a grade of 73.6 for run-blocking.
