IPL 2021: “I have a lot of experience now” – Jaydev Unadkat speaks on his Man of the Match performance

Jaydev Unadkat celebrates a wicket

Jaydev Unadkat was picked in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) playing XI today for the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) after not featuring in the first match. The Saurashtra pacer rewarded the faith shown in him by coming up with a scintillating performance in the Powerplay of the first innings that saw him remove each of DC’s top three batsman – Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane.

Unadkat displayed excellent control and variations with his bowling as the DC batsmen found it extremely difficult to score runs off him. He conceded just 15 runs in his spell and picked up three wickets to pick up the Man of the Match award. He also contributed with the bat by scoring 11 runs in 7 balls while also hitting an important six as Chris Morris then saw RR home in a last-over thriller.

Jaydev Unadkat was awarded the Man of the Match and he spoke about the win saying, “Have a lot of experience now I can say of handling tough situations. Was kind of a homecoming for me. Was bowling with the kind of freedom I wanted with the new ball. Couldn’t do that last season. Had to step up this time. Didn’t get the first game so I knew the chances when they come, I have to take them.”

“If you see the stats I think I only bowled about four-five change of pace. It was about hitting the hard lengths, hitting good lengths because it was doing a bit. Feel there was a bit of moisture. Made good use of it. Changes you as a person in whole (marriage). Feel more settled, more calmer. Nothing like coming to the ground hugging your wife and then sitting beside guys believing in you,” he added.

RR face Chennai Super Kings next on the 19th of April.
