- Jaylen Brown criticized NBA officials for allegedly having an agenda against him during the playoff series against the 76ers.
- He acknowledged Joel Embiid's dominance in the series, reversing his earlier opinion that the 76ers might be better without him.
- Brown stated that the 2025-26 season was his favorite year, enjoying his role as the primary leader of the Boston Celtics.
This was supposed to be the season Jaylen Brown completes his arc of proving his worth. After playing most of his career behind Jayson Tatum‘s shadow, the Boston Celtics guard was having a year to remember.
When he won the 2024 Finals MVP, some felt that the California Golden Bear had proved he has what it takes to lead a franchise to a championship.
But the regular season is a bigger deal, and needs consistent production and leadership from a team’s best player. That was Tatum’s role in the past.
This year, as the latter was recovering from his Achilles tendon tear, Brown took over. He led the Celtics to a surprising second-place finish in the Eastern Conference.
Before the season ended, Tatum returned. By then, every Boston sports fan started to believe that the duo would propel their franchise to another stellar postseason run.
Their imagination received validation when they ran up a 3-1 record over the Philadelphia 76ers. But then, the latter stormed back and booted the Celtics out of the first round.
I was vocal about it, I was thrown out of some games… Why are you targeting me? They clearly had an agenda, maybe because I spoke so critical on them in the regular season.

This was Jaylen Brown expressing his frustration with not getting foul calls during this series. He believes that since he called them out earlier in the season, the officials were working on their agenda to deny him fouls that he felt should have been called.
Jaylen Brown reverses opinion on Joel Embiid after earlier diss
Another entity Jaylen Brown seemingly dissed earlier was Joel Embiid. The Boston Celtics star stated on an earlier stream that the Philadelphia 76ers were probably better without their big man.

I ain’t never seen him that dominant… I give him credit. He came out, and he made a difference in this series, no question. He’s one of the best bigs in the world, if not the, when healthy.
Jaylen Brown said
This was his opinion now, after the former league MVP dominated in the four games he played. It seems Brown did not anticipate Embiid playing this well.
Jaylen Brown, who’s still physically recovering from G7, spoke on how he previously said the 76ers might be better without Joel Embiid:

He believes that the Sixers’ center probably heard his diss and came out with a vengeance. Jaylen Brown claims that he has not seen Embiid play this well. But in this series, the seven-time All-Star was seemingly motivated, and that is what led him to be that dominant.
The Celtics guard is not one to have beef with any player. In this instance, he diffused one even before it became a talking point, knowing all too well that he should not indirectly motivate opposing players.
Jaylen Brown claims 2025-26 season was his favorite year
Jaylen Brown went live to speak to his fans hours after ending his 2025-26 season in the first round. In a year where he proved he can become a leader, it would have been better if he could have led them a bit further.
This group is a special group. I’m so proud of this group and the way we played out. I wish we had trusted that style of play a little bit more, but I know playoffs kind of shifted our rotations… It was my favorite year of my basketball career.
Jaylen Brown said
This is the 29-year-old claiming it was his favorite year so far. That means he enjoyed leading the Boston Celtics as their primary superstar more so than when he won the championship and the Finals MVP.

It seems he is ready to take on a larger leadership role, but it will be up to the coaches to determine if they should hand him the keys rather than let Jayson Tatum lead.
