After losing to the Warriors last week, the Boston Celtics have bounced back in style. Most recently, they defeated the Brooklyn Nets, followed by a win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. The Celtics saw out a narrow win against the Bucks, winning by 107-113 at the Fiserv Forum. Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo had an interesting exchange with Celtics star Jaylen Brown during the game.

For context, Antetokounmpo received criticism from Brown for what he saw as an immature gesture during the game. The Bucks star tried a lighthearted gesture by giving Brown a high five and then swiftly retracting it after he was called for an offensive foul for elbowing the Celtics star. Brown called Antetokounmpo a “child” in his postgame interview, clearly irritated.

Giannis is a child. I’m just focused on helping my team get a win. And that’s what we did tonight.

In addition, Brown quickly moved on from the topic and was focused on his team’s success on the court. Brown’s teammate Jayson Tatum starred for their side, dropping 31 points on the Bucks. The Celtics are now 9-2 in the Eastern Conference, trailing table-toppers Cleveland Cavaliers.

As for the Bucks, they have endured a poor start to their 2024-25 NBA season. They are 2-8 in the NBA and are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. This is possibly their worst-ever start to an NBA campaign in recent years. Also, despite Giannis Antetokounmpo dropping a season-high 43 points on the Celtics, they could not manage to get the win.

Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘fake handshake’ led to the Bucks’ downfall vs Celtics

In their most recent matchup against the Boston Celtics, everything was going well for the Milwaukee Bucks. This was until their star man Giannis Antetokounmpo decided to test the hot waters of the Celtics star Jaylen Brown. Antetokoumnpo performed a ‘fake handshake’ towards Brown after elbowing him. This moment led to the Bucks’ downfall in the match.

Before this moment, Boston trailed 42-32 before the fake handshake. Soon after the moment, Celtics outscored Milwaukee 81-65. This showcased how Brown and Co. were fired up against the Bucks star at the Fiserv Forum.

In addition, Antetokounmpo participated in several contentious plays on Sunday. He stretched his left leg out during Jayson Tatum’s 3-pointer earlier in the game. Giannis Antetokounmpolanded on Tatum’s foot, rolling his ankle in the process. After the game, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla protested that Antetokounmpo was not called for a landing spot foul that should have been called.
