In Short
  • Jaylen Brown has earned $418 million from NBA contracts, making him one of the highest-paid players in league history.
  • He aims to empower athletes through his 741 Performance sneakers, inspired by Kobe Bryant's vision for player ownership.
  • Brown has recently called out the NBA for inconsistent foul calls, highlighting his frustrations with officiating during games.

Over the past few years, Jaylen Brown has had to face question marks over his true worth to the Boston Celtics, as teammate Jayson Tatum was hailed as the true team leader.

Some felt that having two players with similar skills and athleticism was a luxury that the franchise could choose to ignore. Moreover, with the media running with Tatum as the team’s frontrunner, it felt as if the California Golden Bears were going to take a back seat.

However, the winningest organization in the NBA saw something else in the 6’6 guard and chose to keep him even though they could have dealt him to another team for a handful of picks they could use in the future.

The Celtics even handed out what was, at the time, the richest contract in league history. No one could believe that Jaylen Brown was worth that money. It seems some even have trouble believing it now.

I’ve done made $100 million four times.

Jaylen Brown told streamer Tylil

Hearing this, the streamer literally froze and was unable to say anything for a while. After a few moments of silence, the 29-year-old started rapping to the song in the background, after which Tylil ended up smiling at what he just heard.

Streaming is a lucrative business, but it cannot be compared to what NBA players earn. Brown, in this instance, wasn’t wrong about his income, as the contracts he has signed so far will see him earn $418 million by the time they expire.

Jaylen Brown’s NBA salary is just a part of his income

Tylil may have been left speechless hearing that Jaylen Brown has earned $400 million from the NBA. But the Celtics star is trying to earn more. One way he can do that is with his 741 Performance sneakers.

I really created it because I was inspired from Kobe… Trying to empower athletes to have better deals, better percentages.

Jaylen Brown said

While speaking with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady on their podcast Cousins, the 2024 Finals MVP reiterated that he was inspired by the great Kobe Bryant to find his own space.

He talked about how the late Los Angeles Lakers superstar was about to create his own brand a month before his untimely death. Had Bryant lived, he would have brought in players to become owners.

Brown is hoping to do the same through his 741 Performance sneakers and has been working hard trying to pitch the product and the brand to those whom he values in the community.

Jaylen Brown’s complaints are finally heard

Jaylen Brown’s efforts to truly grow his brand are working this season as he has elevated himself into the MVP discussion with his exemplary performances with Jayson Tatum out.

However, in the last few weeks, he has been calling out the league for allowing others to get away with easy foul baiting, or when he and his team do not get foul calls when facing similar instances. He even pointed out how the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder do not even play ‘ethical basketball.’ It seems his complaints have been heard.

Man, I ain’t never ever got to the free throw line that much. It’s crazy.

Jaylen Brown said

This was the Celtics guard’s reply when the courtside reporter asked him about his 21 trips to the free-throw line in their game against the Phoenix Suns.

While responding, Jaylen Brown reiterated that the calls he and his team received in this game should be more consistent, as he had gone through the same motions in the past but was ignored by officials time and again.
