“I never win s**t!” Jaylen Brown has HILARIOUS reaction to winning ECF MVP over Jayson Tatum
Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have a chance to win their first NBA title since 2008.
Jaylen Brown wins the Eastern Conference Finals MVP over Jayson Tatum, leads Boston Celtics to NBA Finals over Indiana Pacers
The Eastern Conference Finals is over and the Boston Celtics have clinched their ticket to the NBA Finals. They overcame another spirited third quarter rally from the Indiana Pacers. In the end, Jaylen Brown and his teammate ensured that they clinched their ticket to the NBA Finals.
In the process, Brown’s performance handed him the MVP, his first major award. He was particularly proud as his teammate Jayson Tatum wins those most of the time. In the post-game press conference, he had a hilarious take after winning his first major award.
I wasn’t expecting it at all. I never win s**t. Was just happy that we won.Jaylen Brown said
This statement brought out the chuckles even from the assembled media. Jayson Tatum usually gets all the attention and the awards, which is why Brown was appreciative of everything.
In this Eastern Conference Finals, Jaylen Brown averaged 29.8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals a game to win the series MVP award. Those numbers helped the Celtics stave off the Pacers who had recorded one of the highest points average over the regular season in the history of the league.
The Celtics were a close second in the regular season. However, in the playoffs, teams use fewer substitutes, and the scoring load is concentrated more on the starting five. Add to that, Brown had to also perform on the defensive side to keep the Indiana Pacers in check toward the end of the game.
Jaylen Brown has to replicate this performance in the NBA Finals for first title
The biggest criticism Jaylen Brown and his Boston Celtics had throughout the playoffs was that they had the easiest path to the NBA Finals. They not only managed to add superstars Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday for bargain trade chips, but also, were the beneficiaries of a not-so-competitive Eastern Conference during the regular season.
That benefit became more apparent in the playoffs when all of their opponents played without their leading superstar’s in at least half of the games. Which means, they will likely face their first major challenge in the NBA Finals. As of now, it looks like the Dallas Mavericks will be those opponents. They are coming out of a Western Conference, which many knew was leagues ahead in terms of competition.
That means, the Mavericks are hardened by battle. Something that gives a major edge when the stakes are high. Jaylen Brown and his teammates will have to step up if they are to win an NBA title. Brown could cap it off with an NBA Finals MVP award to stake his claim as one of the best.
