When Jaylen Brown powered his Boston Celtics to the 2024 NBA championship, it was vindication for missing out on an opportunity two years before when they faced Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Unlike their 2024 championship-winning run, where they essentially enjoyed an easier-than-expected run, mostly fueled by key injuries to Eastern Conference superstars, their 2022 campaign impressed many.

Those young Celtics had to overcome back-to-back 7-game series in the East before meeting a team many thought were past their dominating best.

However, in the Finals, the Warriors’ experience shone through. Even though Brown and his teammates managed to win two games, their opponents ended up winning their 4th NBA championship in 7 years.

They beat us in the Finals. Steph took one of my rings… I’m still mad about that, but it’s cool… We should have won.

Jaylen Brown told DDG on their live stream

The 29-year-old believes Curry and his team stole the 2022 NBA championship from his Celtics. He might be thinking that his then-young team had the momentum to win it all, but their opponents used their tactics to flip the series to their favor.

As much as a wild claim that is, Warriors fan DDG was not ready to agree to that. Which is why he then switched to another angle to try to get one over Jaylen Brown.

Jaylen Brown claims he would win in a 1v1 vs. Stephen Curry

DDG moved on to the topic of 1v1 battles, where he claimed Stephen Curry would beat Jaylen Brown, to which the California Golden Bears star said this:

In 1-on-1? Curry’s not beating me.

Brown replied

Brown initially mentioned that he and the Warriors star would not be a match in a 1v1 battle, as they are both different players. With different skill sets and in different weight classes, much like boxing.

When DDG replied that he felt the Celtics star would not have a chance against Curry, Brown responded that he can do most of what the point guard does, while still having the ability to score inside.

It seems the loss of that 2022 championship bid has led him to the point where the 4-time All-Star strongly believes he could get the one up over Curry.

He revealed later in the stream that after that loss, he had migraines, was throwing up, and did not leave his house for a week. In contrast, after winning his first championship, Brown was out celebrating at every opportunity he could, spending money from his $500,000 per game paycheck.

Jaylen Brown gives Stephen Curry his flowers

As the conversations went on during their live stream, DDG went on to say that he is a huge fan of Stephen Curry. Hearing this, Jaylen Brown said:

Curry gotta be the best point guard all-time… Steph has a leadership ability… It’s not just basketball… You’ve got to be a leader, be a good teammate, handle adversity well. That’s how you win championships. Steph does that well.

Jaylen Brown said

The streamer was willing to place the Warriors’ star above a certain Michael Jordan. However, Brown was not having it. Instead, he went on to detail what makes the Akron native exceptional as a basketball player.

Brown reiterated that everyone in the NBA is a good basketball player. But some, who have the intangibles to make themselves great are the ones that reach the top of the mountain.

The Celtics star echoed what former players and fans have been saying about the Golden State Warriors superstar, pushing to the top of the point guard leaderboard.
