In Short
  • Jaylen Brown's panel in Beverly Hills was shut down by police due to permit issues during a live stream.
  • Brown expressed frustration over the shutdown, emphasizing that the event was not a party but a cultural discussion panel.
  • He also provided an update on teammate Jayson Tatum's recovery, stating that Tatum looks "pretty damn good" as he aims for a comeback.

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has been on a tear this season. For the first time in his career, Brown is the primary scorer of his team as Jayson Tatum continues to work his way back from a long-term injury. Due to his impressive performances, he has earned his way into the MVP conversation.

The Celtics have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2025-26 campaign. With Tatum ruled out with a long-term injury and with the trades of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics have broken up their 2024 NBA Championship-winning roster. Hence, many predicted that the Celtics would at best be a play-in team this season.

But to everyone’s surprise, that has not been the case. Led by Jaylen Brown, the Celtics find themselves in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 35-19 record. With reports that Tatum could return at the end of the season, the Celtics will believe they have a shot in a wide-open Eastern Conference.

Brown is an avid streamer and is known for speaking his mind openly. The Celtics star did not shy away from criticizing the NBA when he lost the NBA POTM award to Jalen Brunson. And once he pointed out that one needs to learn ‘flopping’ to be in the MVP conversations during a live stream.

However, Brown was caught up in something else during a live stream in L.A. The police came to shut down Brown’s panel in Beverly Hills around 7 PM, claiming he did not file the proper permit. An unhappy Brown questioned the cop about what was happening during his live stream.

I’m just trying to get some answers because we paid a lot of money for this and we’re not really getting a clear reason of why we gotta shut it down. It’s not a party, we’re just doing a panel. I know I play for the Celtics, and I know we’re in LA. But hey, I didn’t think y’all would do me like this.

It was an unfortunate scene for Brown and his panel. The former champion made it clear to the authorities that it is not a party. It was a panel talking about culture, the future, and leadership.

Jaylen Brown calls for NBA to introduce a 1-on-1 tournament

The Unrivalled 1-on-1 tournament proved to be a massive hit. The second annual tournament that features elite WNBA talent tipped off on Wednesday, where 32 players are competing for their share of a $300,000 prize pool.

With a lot of noise surrounding downfall of the All-Star Game, Brown wants the NBA to have a 1v1 tournament as well and made the suggestion in his press conference.

I’m actually a big fan of the one-on-one, off-the-dribble sports. I actually love watching, ’cause it reminds me of like the purity of the game. You got to play two sides. You got to be an offensive and a defensive player. There some people I would love to challenge, some people that’s here this weekend, I would love to challenge all of them Luka [Doncic], Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander], [Jalen] Brunson, Donovan [Mitchell], I challenge all them guys 1-on-1.

The 2026 edition of the Unrivalled’s 1-on-1 tournament was won by Chelsea Gray. Gray took out rising star Paige Bueckers in the quarterfinals, former teammate Kelsey Plum in the semifinals, and Alisha Gray in the finals.

Jaylen Brown gives an update on Jayson Tatum

There have been a lot of rumors and reports surrounding Tatum’s comeback. After an Achilles tendon rupture in the second round of the playoffs last season, it was expected that the 27-year-old would be ruled out for the entire 2025-26 campaign. But it appears that Tatum is making a speedy recovery, and a comeback this season has not been ruled out.

At the press conference, Brown was asked about Tatum’s road to recovery.

Obviously, he needs to take his time to mentally, spiritually and mostly make sure everything feel right before making any decisions. But in terms of what I’ve seen, he looks pretty damn good.

The franchise have a huge call to make with Tatum. An Achilles tear usually takes at least a year. It remains to be seen if Tatum will make his return this season, and if he does, Boston will be a serious contender in the East.
