Jaylen Brown scores career-high 42 leading charge against JA Morant-less Memphis Grizzlies
Jaylen Brown
The Boston Celtics have now won 3 in 5 with their victory over Memphis Grizzlies. Celtic’s marquee player Jaylen Brown scored his career-high 42 points with a 70% accuracy from downtown. With JA Morant being side lined because of injury for the Grizzlies, their roster failed to make it big when it mattered the most in clutch situations. Celtics took an overwhelming lead 40-66 by the end of the first half.
Interestingly this was the Boston Celtics 10th straight victory over the Grizzlies. Both Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart scored 16 and 14 points respectively. It was announced just before the game that JA Morant would be out from 3-5 weeks courtesy to a sprained ankle. Grizzlies also lost their guard Grayson Allen in the first half of the game due to ankle sprain.
“When we’re down players, especially when we’re down Ja, everybody has to bring their A-game or it’s not going to be good for us,” Dieng said, as per ESPN. “Hopefully we can hold it down until those guys get back.”
Jaylen Brown leads charge against Memphis Grizzlies
“Since I’ve been here, I’ve seen Jaylen grow every year,” forward Daniel Theis spoke about Jaylen Brown. “He got a hot hand, hit five or six shots in a row, so we kept looking for him.”
Brown was 10 for 15 in the first half, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range. Tacko Fall saw his first action of the season, playing the last six minutes and hitting a pair of free throws.
Boston Celtics have now won 3 games with their big games up against the league’s giants approaching. This will be a great confidence booster for Brown as well as for others. Talking about Grizzlies, they were able to see off Brooklyn Nets without JA Morant. But not on this occasion. The Celtics however play the Detroit Pistons next who seem to be running on low-fuel in the league as of now. While the Grizzlies take on Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets.
