Boston Celtics star man Jaylen Brown does not seem to move out of the headlines anytime soon as his recent controversial take on his All-time starting five list has garnered a lot of attention. Notably, Brown named his all-time starting 5 consisting of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Bill Russell, and snubbed one of the best players, Michael Jordan from his list. This did not go down well with former Celtics legend, Paul Pierce.

Pierce claimed on the Undisputed Show that Jordan is on “everyone’s list” and Brown omitting the NBA legend seems like a dig towards Nike. It’s important to note that, Jordan has been one of the main faces of Nike over many years. However, Pierce also claimed that other stars on Brown’s list were also signed to Nike.

On the Undisputed Show, Paul Pierce said

On the contrary, Brown was snubbed by Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics with various reports stating Nike had a role in Brown not being selected for his national side. This may be one of the reasons Brown chooses to target Nike and its athletes whenever he has a chance. However, no one knows the actual reason behind Brown snubbing Jordan from his all-time 5 players list apart from the Celtics star himself.

Jaylen Brown believes Nike played a role regarding Team USA snub

Jaylen Brown was snubbed by Team USA ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which raised a lot of questions from the NBA community, with Brown believing Nike had a role to play behind this decision. Notably, Brown claimed that “he wasn’t surprised” by this decision as he saw it coming and blamed Nike for his snub.

I wasn’t surprised, but my reaction was that I was happy for D White. It’s dope to have so much of our guys on there, so I was happy for those guys. But I wasn’t surprised.

In addition, Team USA replaced the injured Kawhi Leonard with Brown’s teammate Derrick White instead of the 2024 NBA Finals MVP.

It’s important to note that, while Brown is not sponsored by Nike, his teammate White surely is. This may be one of the reasons why White was preferred over Brown during the selection process. However, it will now be intriguing to watch how Team USA performs in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and any result apart from a Gold medal for the USA will put Brown in the driving seat regarding the ongoing controversy.
