Jaylen Brown’s bold take ages like milk as Detroit Pistons destroy Celtics by 20 points
Jaylen Brown's hot take about th7e Detroit Pistons from the offseason aged poorly after the Celtics 97-117 loss in Detroit.

Jaylen Brown's take on Detroit Pistons aged badly
The Detroit Pistons were once the laughingstock of the NBA, as one of the worst teams in the league. On Wednesday, the Pistons completed their 8th win in a row, with their latest victory over reigning NBA champs Boston Celtics. While anyone can beat anyone on a nightly basis in the NBA, the Pistons’ win over the Celtics is especially sweet, given Jaylen Brown’s comments about them over the summer.
During the offseason, Brown made a bold take about the depth and versatility of the Celtics, which made them such a difficult team to deal with in the playoffs. In his analysis of the Celtics team, he cited the example of a team like the Pistons, who were the worst team in the league last season, and stated that Boston tends to play through its role players in such games to get them more reps.
A night we playing, don’t mean to disrespect them but, the Detroit Pistons who have struggled over the last year or two, we gonna play through Payton, let him go for 30. Play through Sam, let him shoot 10 threes tonight. We gonna still win the game.

While this wasn’t meant to be a disrespectful take, as Jaylen Brown stated, name-dropping a team like the Pistons is inherently disrespectful to their opponents. So it was not difficult to see why the upstart Pistons walked into Wednesday’s game aiming for vengeance. The Pistons, led by Malik Beasley and Cade Cunningham, handily defeated the Celtics 117-97.
The win was amongst the worst this season for the Celtics in terms of the margin of defeat, although they continue to hold onto the 2nd seed in the East. Notably, Wednesday night’s game did not see Jaylen Brown suit up as he was dealing with a thigh contusion he suffered on the first night of this back-to-back stretch of road games against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.
Pistons overpower Celtics ‘depth’ without Jaylen Brown
Although Jaylen Brown was not available for the Celtics on Wednesday night, the rest of the main cast of the team was geared up and ready to go. With stars like Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis on the floor, one would have at least expected a tight contest between the hottest team in the NBA and the reigning champs.
However, the game was a washout victory for Detroit. The Pistons, who kept the Celtics at bay with the scores tied at halftime, blew the game open in the 2nd half, especially in the fourth quarter. Led by Cade Cunningham and Malik Beasley’s big nights, the Pistons outscored the Celtics 62- 42 in the 2nd half, blowing out the star-studded Boston lineup with more than half of the 4th quarter still left.
Beasley ended the night with a team-high 26 points with 6 threes, while Cunnigham recorded another double-double with 21 points and 11 assists to continue his breakout season.
On the Celtics’ end of the floor, they definitely missed the presence of Jaylen Brown, as their vaunted offense failed to make shots consistently, with Jayson Tatum lacking help on the offensive end of the floor while dropping a game-high 27 points.
