Jaylon Johnson blamed the media for excluding him from the NFL's Top 100 players list while keeping Aaron Rodgers despite missing out the entire season due to injury.

Jaylon Johnson felt disrespected when he did not see his name in the NFL’s Top 100 players list. Yet he seemed even more infuriated to find out about Aaron Rodgers’ inclusion.

Johnson was one of the standout performers for the Chicago Bears last season. While the offense failed to leave much impression, the 25-year-old led the defense with 36 tackles, 10 passes defended, and 4 interceptions, including 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders one week 7.

Despite the numbers, Johnson wasn’t part of the NFL’s top 100 players. During the recent press conference from Halas Hall, the defensive back vented his frustration, and most of it was directed at the media who possessed voting rights.

[It’s] bulls**t. There's no way that there's 100 guys, especially if we'[re] going by the season. Is it by the season, or is it just by names? Is it the top 100 names in the league? How do you (media) guys know how it goes?

After questioning the media’s motives in selecting players for the best players in the NFL, Johnson then took a cheeky dig at Jets’ veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

I don't know how you make Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and not a Top 100 guy. I could’ve been 101, I guess, but [inaudible], Aaron Rodgers didn’t even play in the season, and he was voted.
Jaylon Johnson added

As Johnson mentioned, Rodgers only played four snaps last season and still found himself at the 92nd spot on the list. On the other hand, the former second-round pick, whom Pro Football Focus graded 90.8 in 2023, missed out.

There were only two Bears players on the list. Linebacker Roquan Smith (60) played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 and ex-Bears quarterback Justin Fields (86), who got traded in the offseason to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Johnson claimed it was disrespectful for him to be left out.

One hundred percent, it's disrespectful… because I go out there, line up, and I know receivers go out there and can't say that I'm not one of the best players.

The defensive back wasn’t the only Bears with an exemplary season who did not make it into the list. Wide receiver DJ Moore lodged 96 catches for 1964 receiving yards (6th in the league in 2023) but was left out.

Despite their exclusions, the Bears saw their value and potential and opted to extend their contract. Jaylon Johnson signed a four-year $76 million deal, while Moore agreed to a four-year, $110 million deal.
