Football players are humans too, and like normal human beings, they too go through difficult times. Jaylon Johnson is no different.

After holding out for a new contract following a franchised tag, Johnson signed a 4-year $76 million deal with the Chicago Bears in March 2024. Shortly after the announcement, Johnson spoke with the media and made a shocking revelation.

The Chicago Bears cornerback disclosed being addicted to s*x from a young age. As a four-star recruit, he was highly sought after by women around his age. It wasn’t hard for him to find a partner whenever there was a party in the vicinity.

I could just have fun, sleep with whomever I wanted. Anytime there was nothing going on, it would revert to girls. It got to the point where I was not to shake it.

The 25-year-old who had a career breakout season in 2023, claimed he wasn’t the only athlete going through personal issues.

It's bigger than me. For one, it's because I know I'm not the only one going through it. Two, it's OK to go through stuff. It's OK to not be perfect. We are humans too. We go through things.
Jaylon Johnson added

Johnson had 4 interceptions and 10 breakups en route to his first-ever Pro Bowl call-up.

Jaylon Johnson required therapy

It’s not easy to get rid of an addiction. Even Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor had a massive drug addiction that hampered his performance near the latter part of his NFL career.

Johnson decided to bury his demons and went for therapy. It was the correct path. In an interview with NBC Sports, he disclosed the process was tough but worth every second.

In that place of vulnerability, I had a breakthrough. I had a breakthrough with myself and I had a breakthrough on the football field. I wouldn't say it affected me. If anything, it boosted me to be who I know I am.

His $19 million a year ranks 7th for cornerbacks in the league. He gave most of the credit to his parents for taking care of him whenever he needed them.

My parents sacrificed more than a lot to make sure I had everything I needed.

However, the one individual that he looked up to was his brother, who played for UCLA from 2013-2017.

You grew something in me that I didn't know was growing and that was the thirst for greatness. You have been everything I needed in my life as a brother, a trainer, and a friend.

Johnson’s ultimate goal is wearing the Yellow Jacket (Hall of Fame). With a new-look offense led by Heisman Trophy Winner Caleb Williams alongside Keenan Allen and DJ Moore, the Bears are projected to have a great season.
