The Atlanta Hawks played against the Boston Celtics on Saturday night at the TD Garden. Not many were expecting the Hawks to get a win from the match, especially against the reigning champions. With the C’s boasting the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, all expectations were for them to secure an easy win. However, the Hawk had other plans.
They overcame the Celtics in overtime, with the final score at 115-119. With this win, the Hawks are the only team to beat the Celtics twice in Boston this season. Celtics star Jayson Tatum caught the headlines for a glaring error, sending fans into a meltdown on social media.
Tatum missed an easy 3v1 chance against the Hawks’ star, Trae Young. Many watching live at the TD Garden could not believe the miss.

The Celtics led 103-100 following a technical free throw by Tatum, giving them a 90.3% probability to win with 20.1 seconds remaining, according to ESPN Analytics.
However, the game was forced into overtime due to a turnover by Jrue Holiday and two costly fouls on Young. Dyson Daniels finished with 23 points, while Trae Young led Atlanta with 28 points and 12 assists. As for the Celtics, in the absence of centers Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, Brown led Boston with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.

Tatum entered the game as questionable due to a left shoulder issue, and he ended up scoring 23 points – 5 below his season average. Finally, in regulation and overtime, he missed two baskets and shot 7 of 21 total. The team as a whole struggled with shooting, as Boston only made 15 of 52 3-point attempts. When shooting 30% or worse on 3-pointers, the Celtics are 1-7 in their previous eight games, four of which have taken place in January.
