In the 2023–24 NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games to win their record eighteenth NBA championship. The Celtics and their star players Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown aim to become the first consecutive champions since the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and will make this a target going into the 2024–25 NBA season. However, as per various analysts and experts, it won’t be easy for Celtics to defend their title.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst also believes the same. In the Association, winning consecutive titles is an incredibly challenging undertaking. In a recent segment of the NBA on ESPN show, Wojnarowski put forward this take on the Celtics. He claimed that Celtics’ title defense ‘won’t be the same after winning a championship.’

I expect the Celtics to give a great title defense, but it's not going to be the same once you've won the championship.

That said, the competition has become more fierce going into the new 2024-25 NBA season. Both, the Eastern Conference and Western Conference sides have strengthened their rosters.

In any case, the Celtics are still capable of winning the Eastern Conference Finals and advancing to the Finals. Moreover, they don’t have any competition in the West outside of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Contrary to what Windhorst may believe, the Celtics can win another championship as long as they maintain that mentality.

Additionally, the snubbing of Jaylen Brown from the Olympic team and the limited game time for Jayson Tatum must have lit a fire inside them. As such, they will use it as fuel and come out guns blazing for the 2024-25 season. Charles Barkley also believes the duo and their incentive to perform can be quite troublesome for their opponents.

Jaylen Brown and the Celtics are ‘ready’ for the next 2024-25 NBA season

The star of the Boston Celtics, Jaylen Brown, was left off Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Brown appeared offended by the snub at first, but he soon got over it. In addition, Brown revealed his goals for the 2024–25 NBA season. He declared that he was prepared to lead the Celtics to yet another NBA championship.

Last year is over, to be honest. We celebrated, we had a good time, it’s been an awesome summer. I’ve been having a great summer, by the way, but it’s over with, and now it’s back to work. Now we got the target on our back, everybody is trying to come after us, and I'm like, 'Come on.' It's back to work and I'm looking forward to next season.
Jaylen Brown told NBC Sports

The outstanding guard excelled in the postseason last year. Brown was the MVP of the Eastern Conference Finals, averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals. This season, Brown will have a head start on his summer workouts as training camp and preseason kick off in late September. It will be intriguing to watch how Brown and Co. will perform in the 2024-25 NBA season.
