“This series is over!” – Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday send internet WILD coming back from double-digit deficit to take 3-0 lead in ECF
Boston Celtics take a crucial 3-0 lead against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday lead the Boston Celtics to comeback from a double-digit deficit to win game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals
With Tyrese Haliburton out with his leg injury, the Indiana Pacers were not favored to win game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. However, the Pacers split the game wide open when they raced to a double-digit lead and managed to keep it for much of the game. Except, Jayson Tatum had other ideas when he made big shots after big shots. That and Jrue Holiday producing another stupendous defensive performance to close the game has fans burning up the internet.
Up until 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Indiana Pacers built up an 18-point lead. Brilliant offensive play from the young Pacers squad gave the basketball world a vision that they could win the game. But that was the turning point. Jayson Tatum and his teammates started a furious rally that clawed back at the deficit on every other possession. Al Horford took the opportunity of his teammates getting double-teamed and scored 7 3-pointers.
Then in the final few possessions, the Boston Celtics put on a defensive show for the ages. Jrue Holiday set the tone by clamping down Andrew Nembhard from going into the paint. That allowed his teammates to deny the Pacers from getting any shot off in the final minute and a half.
Then Holiday put the icing on the cake by poking the ball away from Nembhard and taking it to the opposite half while drawing a foul. The eventual free throws ensured the Pacers now stared at an almost impossible task. As no team in NBA history has come back from 0-3 down to win a playoff series.
