Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum and popular London-born singer Ella Mai have been in a relationship for over five years now. The power couple have kept their relationship private and have made only a handful of public appearances. Tatum has a son from his previous relationship and welcomed his second son, his first with Mai last year.
Jayson Tatum suffered a brutal Achilles injury last season in the second round against the New York Knicks. The Celtics ended up getting knocked out, but had to bear the bad news of their star player being ruled out for the 2025-26 campaign. Despite the 27-year-old making remarkable progress in the last seven months, the Celtics will not want to risk in rushing him back and risking any future complications.
This season has been a surprise for Boston fans as the club find themselves in contention for a direct qualification to the playoffs. With no Tatum and trading the likes of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to free up the salary cap, the club had disbanded the 2024 NBA Championship-winning roster.
But things seem to have changed after 26 games into the season, as the Celtics are currently placed at fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 15-11 record. Led by 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, who is averaging 29.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists so far this campaign, the franchise’s objectives may have changed as the East appears to be wide open.
Tatum’s girlfriend Ella Mai won a Grammy award for “Best R&B song” in 2019. The “Boo’d Up” singer rarely opens up about her private life but recently gave an interview with KISS XTRA and spoke about their newborn son and his talent in basketball and singing.
It’s giving a little bit of both right now. We might have a little singing hooper on our hands. He can hold a little note; he is young, but he can hold a little note.

Jayson Tatum to make an early return?
Over the last few weeks, Tatum has been posting updates of his recovery, and the signs have been promising. The former number three pick in the 2017 NBA draft has made it clear that he wants to make his comeback this season. And with 56 games still to go, there is a chance for it to happen.

According to NBA Inside Chris Haynes, Tatum is confident he will be back this season. The Celtics guard had told Haynes:
He told me he’s coming back this season.

The Indiana Pacers are struggling after a long-term injury to Tyrese Haliburton, the Philadelphia 76ers cannot catch a break with Joel Embiid and the Milwaukee Bucks are dealing with a lot of drama surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Detroit Pistons sit at the top of the Eastern Conference, but lack of playoff experience could come back to cost them later. That’s why many pundits believe that the East remains wide open this season which gives the Celtics a good chance if Tatum returns.
