The Boston Celtics made a spectacular comeback following their defeat by the Warriors last week. Their most recent victories were over the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks. At the Fiserv Forum, the Celtics defeated the Bucks by a slim margin of 107-113. During the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics had a heated exchange.

For context, the game included several heated moments between the opposing teams. In the third quarter, Antetokounmpo aggressively closed out on a three-pointer from Tatum. He landed on Tatum’s ankle leaving the Celtics star without a landing place, hurting him. Tatum seemed visibly frustrated with this and called him out publicly on X.

Joe Mazzulla weighed in on Refs missed foul call against Jayson Tatum

Bucks star Giannis Antetokunmpo made the headlines for all the unwanted reasons in the recent matchup. Antetokounmpo fouled Jayson Tatum, which left him in much pain during the game. However, the referees did not issue a foul, as they missed it.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was furious with this ignorance of the NBA referees for not calling a foul against Tatum. Eventually, the Celtics won the game, and the Bucks could not get past their miserable start to the season. However, Mazzulla made sure to furiously comment about the foul on Tatum.

That’s ridiculous. Can’t miss that. Can’t miss that … And [Tatum] didn’t let it impact the rest of the game on either end of the floor. But the refs did a great job, they knew that they missed it.

Joe Mazzulla said post-game

As for the Bucks, Antetokounmpo scored 43 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and dished out five assists, making the Bucks a one-man army. However, his teammate Damian Lillard had a poor performance as per his standards. Only 14 points were scored by the point guard, which left the Bucks with a poor loss against the 2024 NBA Champions.
