Jayson Tatum quotes Joe Mazzulla’s advice from Game 1 after 95-93 loss in Game 3
Celtics star man Jayson Tatum has been making headlines lately for his recent take on his viral moment with Joe Mazzulla.

Jayson Tatum and Joe Mazzulla
After a heavy fall in Game 1 due to a blatant foul by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Joe Mazzulla yelled at Jayson Tatum to “get up” from the Celtics bench. Tatum missed Wednesday night’s Game 2 of the Celtics-Magic series after it was determined that he had a serious bone injury. Notably, Tatum returned for Game 3 but was dealt a loss on his return.
In addition, he also discussed the ‘Get Up’ situation with the media after the game. Tatum is not one to mince his words, he took a few playful jabs at his HC, Joe Mazzulla. The Celtics star claimed that the treatment has been ‘progressing well’ on his return to the court in Game 3 before talking about Mazulla.
Just get up. Ain’t that what Joe told me? Get up. Move on to the next play. Protect yourself, and just focus on the game.

After spending almost a minute on the floor, Tatum continued to discuss the exchange with Mazzulla during Game 1 that went viral. The Celtics star stated that his injury was a lot worse than Joe thought, but made amends with his HC. Tatum returned on Friday, scoring a game-high 36 points while being in discomfort during the Magic’s 95-93 defeat.
Even though Orlando’s rough play has contributed to Tatum and the Celtics’ health issues, they will try to recover when they face the Magic in Game 4 on Sunday. In Game 3, Jrue Holiday was sidelined by a hamstring ailment, and Jaylen Brown sustained a dislocated finger.
However, Tatum’s teammate Brown also made his views clear on the physicality of the game. Brown was frustrated with the officiating as well. Both stars are focused on getting their revenge in the upcoming Game 4.
Joe Mazzulla also chimed in on the Jayson Tatum viral injury moment
It’s safe to say that Mazzulla and Tatum were the most talked-about duo in the NBA after the viral injury moment. Many NBA analysts and fans reacted to the situation involving the Celtics’ HC and Tatum. Interestingly, both Tatum and Mazzulla offered their views on this matter as well. Mazzulla claimed that he ‘loved’ the moment with Tatum.
Love.
Joe Mazzulla’s message to Jayson Tatum after the Viral injury moment
Although that seems like a strange response, Mazzulla, who frequently exhorts his players to welcome failure and adversity, is using it to his advantage. For instance, Mazzulla stated that he was “excited about the whole situation” and “enjoyed watching it” after Tatum had an injury scare in the first round of the 2024 playoffs due to a hard foul by Caleb Martin of the Miami Heat.
Jayson Tatum made NBA Playoffs history in Game 3 loss
Jayson Tatum is surely enjoying his time with the Boston Celtics. So much so that under the direction of head coach Joe Mazzulla, Tatum is making his name in the playoff record book. He moved up to 15th place on the record of converted threes in the playoffs, surpassing Detroit Pistons great Chauncey Billups. This comes as a huge achievement for the Celtics star in his career.

During a strong second quarter in Game 3 of the Celtics’ first-round series versus the Orlando Magic, Tatum had his special moment. Even though the 27-year-old scored four 3-pointers during the game, the Celtics were unable to win. Tatum put up another outstanding performance in spite of the defeat.
He might compete with NBA greats in the postseason if he continues to make it that far. For now, Tatum will be focused on the ongoing playoff series against the Magic. After the stunning Game 3 upset, Tatum and Co. cannot take their opposition easily. They will need to grind out a win away from home court in Game 4.
