Jayson Tatum reveals he’s chasing one ‘GOAT’ player and it is not Michael Jordan

NBA and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has been having one of the best years, winning the 2024 title and the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. However, he does not intend to stop here as he wants to win more NBA titles with his side. Interestingly, Tatum also spoke about one of the best Celtics players, the great Larry Bird.
Tatum’s ultimate ambition is to win as many NBA titles as Bird did (3) in Boston. In a recent interview with Jared Greenberg for NBA TV, Tatum stated that Bird was his motivation and that his accomplishments inspired him to be the player he is.
I didn’t need any extra motivation coming into the season… The motivation came from not being satisfied. Larry Bird is the best Celtic to ever wear this uniform. That’s the guy that I’m chasing.

While many NBA stars idolize greats like Michael Jordan, the late Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James, this is not the case for Tatum. He chose to emulate the career of his side’s legend Larry Bird. Given that, Celtics fans will be pleased to know Tatum’s ambitions going into the 2024-25 NBA season.
It’s also important to note that, the Celtics are a strong contender going into the next season and will be looking to defend their title once again. Hence, it will be intriguing to watch how Tatum and Co. will fare in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

Jayson Tatum has been one of the Boston Celtics’ most consistent players to date. His determination paid off when the Celtics won the 2024 NBA championship. Tatum recently told reporters that the chaos and speculations around him had come to an end after winning the title.
Not only that, Tatum is also following in the footsteps of his Celtics legend Larry Bird. By clinching the 2024 title, Tatum became the sixth player in NBA history to win the championship while leading their team in points, rebounds, and assists in the playoffs. Before Tatum, the previous Celtics player to achieve this feat was Bird in 1984-86.
Tatum is excited to make or break more records with the Celtics in the next NBA season. It remains to be seen how he does since there will be high expectations for him to deliver once more.
