Jayson Tatum’s lack of Michael Jordan’s ‘cocky grin’ gets trolled by Colin Cowherd in viral rant
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd didn’t hold back in criticizing Celtics star Jayson Tatum in the ongoing "face of the league" debate.

Colin Cowherd and Jayson Tatum
As LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant near the end of their careers, the debate over the NBA’s next big star is heating up. Young talents like Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama are strong contenders, but Jayson Tatum has now inserted himself into the conversation, suggesting he doesn’t receive enough credit for his accomplishments at a young age.
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd wasn’t impressed with Jayson Tatum’s recent comments about his career. On The Herd, Cowherd compared Tatum to Tim Duncan and used a hypothetical scenario to emphasize that being the face of the NBA is about more than just accolades and stats.
Just think about this. Close your eyes. Think about Magic Johnson – You can see the smile. Think about Michael – You can see that cocky grin. Now, think about LeBron – You can see the imagery, pregame, chalk. You can close your eyes and there’s images with stars. Close your eyes now and do it with Tatum. I don’t see anything! 26 a night. I don’t see anything.

This is quite a huge verdict by Herd regarding the Boston Celtics star. Rather, Cowherd thinks that Wemby joining the Knicks or Edwards playing for a franchise with a large fan base like the Lakers might eventually win the ‘Face of the League‘ title. In particular, Tatum has always been vocal regarding his status in the league. He feels that he has not been given his flowers as much as the other young stars in the league.

Notably, earlier this week, Tatum also stated that he feels underappreciated. From the Celtics star’s point of view, it does make sense. Mostly because the 26-year-old has already advanced to five Conference Finals and won the Larry O’Brien Trophy. In addition, he has won two gold medals at the Olympics with Team USA.
Jayson Tatum adamant on being the ‘next’ face of the NBA
Although there has been much discussion on who will be the next NBA basketball star, most fans concur that it will probably come down to either Anthony Edwards, Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic, or Nikola Jokic. Jayson Tatum, a standout for the Boston Celtics, claims he is the best person to assume that role in a recent interview.
Did he win a championship? Yes. Did he win gold medals? Yes. Was he always a part of winning seasons? Was he first-team all-NBA? Those are things that you know are hard evidence. Face of the NBA? They can always debate. But it’s like, I check off all the boxes.

Tatum does not shy away from putting his opinions forward. He is known for his vocal nature on and off the court. The Celtics star views himself as one of the league’s most unappreciated stars because he does not have the large fan base and sponsorship deals that some of his contemporaries do.
