With February around the corner, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is excited for the 2026 season. The infielder expressed confidence regarding the upcoming season and believes the New York Yankees will have a much more positive result this time than last campaign.

After losing in the World Series in 2024, the Yankees were hoping to do one better and finally climb the top of the MLB mountain once again. The 27-time World Series winners have not tasted success since 2009.

The AL East side went on finish the season with a 94-68 record. However, they missed out on the division title despite finishing with the same record as the Toronto Blue Jays due to the Canadian side holding a tiebreaker over them.

This meant the Yankees had to go through the Wild Card Series. They overcame their arch rivals, the Boston Red Sox in the best-of-three series and met the Blue Jays in the American League Division Series (ALDS).

Just like the regular season, the Blue Jays dominated the Bronx Bombers. They outscored them 34-19 in 4 games and won the series 3-1.

Chisholm Jr., who finished the regular season with 31 home runs and 80 RBIs with a .242 batting average, would manage just 4 hits in the postseason. He went 4-for-25 with 1 home run and 1 RBI while hitting .182 in 7 games.

The offseason has since then been a slow one for the Yankees. While they managed to re-sign Cody Bellinger and some other names and bring them back, they did not have any major arrivals.

Despite this, Chisholm Jr. is confident about the upcoming season. While speaking with the reporters on Friday, the 27-year-old believes the 2026 season will be a great one for the Yankees.

I can’t wait to get out there. 2026 is coming up, and I think it’s going to be a big year for the Yankees.

In February, players will report to teams and take part in the Spring Training. With the World Baseball Championship (WBC) set to take place in March, this year, MLB teams will face some international teams. Chisholm Jr. will be representing Great Britain in this international tournament.

In his response, he claimed that the offseason was just “fine” for the team. The 2nd baseman once again expressed confidence in his team.

I think it was fine. For me, we’ve made it to the playoffs back-to-back years. Haven’t delivered the final blow, but I feel like, at the same time, this team is really good.

Following the return of Trent Grisham through the qualifying offer, the Yankees spent the majority of the offseason trying to bring Cody Bellinger back. During this time, they re-signed Tim Hill, Paul Blackburn, Amed Rosario, Ryan Yarbrough and traded in for Ryan Weathers.

They also missed out on some of their trade targets in Miguel Cabrera and Freddy Peralta. Apart from that, they lost two of their relief pitchers, Devin Williams and Luke Weaver, to the New York Mets.

As per reports, the team is also in talks about bringing back Paul Goldschmidt. The former National League MVP hit 10 home runs while batting at a .274 average. They are trying to add a right-handed bat to their lineup.

All of these talks also come at a time when there are rumors of the Yankees being open to trading Chisholm Jr. When asked about his own future, the infielder is hoping for to be “strong” and claimed that he loves the Yankees.

I mean, I hope it looks strong. I love being a Yankee.
