LeBron James is about to enter his 23rd season in the NBA. At age 40, he is still playing at an elite level and was named to his 21st All-NBA team this past season. Since he is doing things no other basketball player has done, there are many asking some pertinent questions.

There have been several allegations that the 4-time league MVP has resorted to performance enhancers to maintain his top shape over the years. Some believe the league has helped him put a lid on any such rumors.

Then others point to the federal investigation that included his wife, Savannah James, and his close aides for having allegedly routed HGH, the growth hormone, and other performance boosters through various channels.

Those allegations came up empty as the investigations cleared them of any wrongdoing, but some players believe LeBron James has been using steroids. Former champion Jeff Teague said this on the Club 520 Podcast.

He was on steroids bro. Allegedly. They started testing for HGH, and he had to sit out. He said his back was hurting and he sat out for three weeks, then he came back skinny. I was in the league, I remember it.

Jeff Teague said

He believes James coming back skinny was a sign that he had to stop taking in HGH as the investigations had just started. Teague is referring to the Miami Heat era of LeBron James when discussing these investigations, and that is where fans had a problem with his claims.

Fans slam Jeff Teague for uninformed LeBron James take

The moment clips of this episode of the Club 520 Podcast made their way to social media, fans were left shaking their heads. Some pointed out that Jeff Teague is using a LeBron James controversy to garner clout.

Fans believe this was an uninformed take, using LeBron James’ name to bring in more viewers. No wonder once he received backlash, he walked back on his claims with a story on IG where he claimed he was joking about the now-Lakers star.

This confirmed their notion that Teague was doing this for clout, and did not stop to take shots at the former NBA champion. Check out examples of those reactions below.

The league did not start HGH testing until the 2015-16 season. His back injury occurred in the previous season, when he missed eight games. Secondly, Teague said it was during the superstar’s time with the Miami Heat, whereas both the injury and the HGH testing happened when he was back in Cleveland.

Heat LeBron James vs. Cavaliers LeBron James

After toiling on his own for 7 seasons, LeBron James infamously took his talents to South Beach. There, along with close friends Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, he claimed he was going to win multiple NBA titles.

The experiment lasted 4 years, netting 2 titles. The 1st year was what many believe helped the Akron native become a truly great basketball player. His tenure with the Miami Heat is believed to have unlocked a level inside him that has helped him stay this good for this long.

When he returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers, that superstar in him helped his hometown team do the unthinkable and win their 1st ever NBA title. Some fans believe that version of LeBron James was the best.

In Miami, he understood what it takes to win, and in Cleveland, he became that leader of men that many wanted him to be. If he hadn’t faced the super team that was the Kevin Durant-infused Golden State Warriors, the GOAT debate might have been over by now.
