- LeBron James and his son Bronny made history by playing together in an NBA game for the first time.
- Jeff Teague praised the moment, reflecting on the difficulty of sharing the court with a family member.
- Bronny James has faced challenges in his development, with limited playing time on the senior team this season.
Last season, LeBron James was beaming with pride when he and his son, Bronny James, checked into an NBA game together for the first time.
That momentous occasion drew millions of fans to the league, as it was something that had never been done in professional sports. Such was the hype that the league and the Los Angeles Lakers invited the who’s who of the sports and celebrity world to join in the celebration.
Since then, the younger James has been subjected to increasing levels of trolling, as many felt he was clearly not ready to play amongst seasoned NBA opponents.
Then, he was sent down to the G-League, and once he flourished, he was called to the senior team from time to time. This season, the 21-year-old was expected to take the next step in his development, but it has not materialized yet.
Again going back-and-forth for both teams, Bronny James has rarely seen the court for the senior side, especially now that they are in the thick of a battle to hold on to third place in the West.
I ain’t going to lie, that’s hard, shake your son hand in the game.

This was the former NBA champion switching gears, as he has had trouble with LeBron James in the past. Now, he is admiring what the Lakers superstar did alongside his son while playing together in the game. Jeff Teague wishes he could at least do that with his father in the backyard.
LeBron James was surprised to check in with Bronny James at the same time
The sequence Jeff Teague was talking about was when LeBron James and his son, Bronny, were on the floor at the same time. The last time it happened was during the latter’s debut in the 2024-25 season.

Since then, the two have not played much together, which is why the league’s all-time leading scorer was surprised when both he and his son were asked to check in at the same time.
A video released by NBA on Prime shows how the older James was trying to figure out who head coach JJ Redick wanted to check in. He kept asking whether the call was for him or Bronny James.
Finally, when he realized both of them were being asked to check, LeBron James nudged his older son to get ready to go in. That is how both of them managed to play some possessions together.

It is also where Jeff Teague noticed how the father-and-son duo dapped each other up after executing a defensive sequence to the best of their abilities.
LeBron James and son Bronny break up Pacers’ layup plan
Anyone who has a little bit of knowledge about the NBA knows that LeBron James’ IQ is off the charts. He reads defenses and offensive schemes faster than anyone, and reacts accordingly.
He may be the oldest player in the league at 41 years old, but with that age comes experience that no one else in the NBA currently can claim that they have.
After he and his son, Bronny James, checked in, the Pacers tried to run a scheme focused on exploiting the Lakers’ star. As soon as Pascal Siakam came over to where James Jr. was standing, TJ McConnell, who had the ball in his hands, dribbled past his opponent.

Siakam’s presence almost created a screen, which slowed the USC alum enough to allow McConnell to accelerate away to the basket. When LeBron James noticed this develop, he instantly moved to slow the Pacers’ guard. That reaction blew up the entire play.
