Novak Djokovic has always put his family at the top of his priorities and cited his wife and children as a source of motivation. Today, the first thing he did after ending his two-decade-long hunt for an Olympic gold was to leap into the stands and embrace his daughter, wife, and son.
Following the emotional win and celebrations, Jelena, Djokovic‘s wife, put out a post on X that sums up her appreciation for her husband and it was worded such that it reciprocated the feelings of their children as well.
Our dad is all gold with or without a medal around his neck.Jelena Djokovic wrote on X
She has stood by the Serb for a large part of his career and has helped him navigate through his toughest times, which most recently included a knee injury he suffered during the French Open that forced him into surgery.

With the one-line message, she encapsulated how proud Djokovic’s family is of him.
The backing and motivation from his family pays off in extraordinary manner for Novak Djokovic
As a man who is proud to represent his country, Novak Djokovic has always expressed the desire to win an Olympic gold for his country but was unable to achieve it in his first four editions of the Summer Games.
In 2024, he seemed more motivated than ever as he was aware that it was possibly the last chance he would get at ‘completing tennis’. This determination and hunger often translated into frustration between points that his team and mainly his family had to cushion.
In the end, all his efforts and everything his family endured were worth it, as he finally achieved everything he had longed for, after playing a near-perfect match against Carlos Alcaraz. To add delight to his fans, despite this historic achievement, Djokovic shows no signs of slowing down. Speaking to the press after the match, the 37-year-old revealed that he is already planning for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
