Jerod Mayo’s wife, Chantel, grew tired of all the chatter surrounding her husband and posted a cryptic message on social media to share her thoughts on the matter. Mayo lost his job as the head coach of the New England Patriots after owner Robert Kraft revealed that he made a mistake by appointing the ex-player.

Kraft decided it was best for the Patriots to fire Mayo after winning only four games in his first season as a head coach. Several leaks spewed eyebrow-raising inside stories right after the announcement.

It never even crossed our minds to tell the truth… But I couldn’t even fathom all of the lies we read that are being told to save face. What happened to class? We’ve been taking the high road and letting everyone do their thing since Sunday. But playing with someone’s name won’t be tolerated. I bet the fake stories will stop before the real ones start.

Which news did Jerod Mayo’s wife try to highlight?

A recent report from The Athletic’s Chad Graff revealed a Patriots story, on their way back from losing 30-17 to the Arizona Cardinals on December 15. The assistants were busy reviewing the game details on the plane, but Mayo opted to play cards with his players.

In a move that surprised some at the front of the plane after such a lopsided loss, according to a team source, Mayo, left his spot near the front and went back to where some players had gathered to play cards, choosing to hang out there while his assistants watched film.

It’s natural for Mayo’s wife to defend him from such news that might paint him in a bad light. So far, not a single Patriots player has come forward to shed light on the situation. In the meantime, FS1’s former NFL player-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho launched a scathing attack against NFL owners and GMs for not giving Black coaches enough time to implement their ways.

By number, White head coaches are one and done more often than Black head coaches, but by percentage, it completely pales in comparison. 11% of White head coaches are one and done. 35% of Black head coaches are one and done.

Emmanuel Acho said in a segment of The Facility

The Patriots acted quickly to locate a new head coach. Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel remains the favorite to take over while Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn declined to answer Kraft’s call for an interview.
