When Jerry Jones traded for George Pickens, many were quick to label the deal as one that could end up hampering the Dallas Cowboys, especially with his concerning character issues.
Some even labeled it as a win for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who received a 2026 3rd-round pick and a 2027 5th-rounder. After 12 weeks, that trade seems to have tilted in the favor of America’s Team, who finally have an Alpha 2 to pair alongside CeeDee Lamb.
In his past two games, the Georgia Bulldog garnered 250 yards with two touchdowns. Such numbers elevated his reputation as one of the best receivers this season.
When he and his teammates lined up to face the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Thursday, it was expected that he would continue his recent form, as Lamb was struggling with drops.
Early in the 2nd quarter, with the Cowboys trailing the Chiefs by a score, quarterback Dak Prescott decided to target George Pickens on a slant.
The 6′ 3″ receiver used his excellent elusiveness to break away from his defender. Usually, that separation should enable him to easily catch the ball.
The 24-year-old extended his arms out to gather the ball, but his reaction was a tad too late. The ball had already sailed past him when he tried to catch it.
The video clip reveals that the blinding sun was the culprit behind this failed attempt. Apparently, Jerry Jones preferred not to draw the blinds at AT&T Stadium.

Last season, CeeDee Lamb couldn’t grab a surefire touchdown throw. Thankfully, they were playing the Giants, and ended up winning. But in this game, the odds were against them.
George Pickens makes up later with unreal 4th quarter catch-and-run
In the first 3 quarters of this game, it seemed as if the Kansas City Chiefs, with some help from the sun, were able to keep George Pickens at bay.

He could only manage 49 yards in all those snaps, which played a part in the away team being able to keep the Dallas Cowboys behind them.
In the 4th quarter, with the home team still trailing, the offense decided to draw up another play involving their offseason addition. On a 3rd and 8, Dak Prescott threw the ball to Pickens as he cut inside.
Then, in a swift move, the receiver spun around towards the outside, which left his defender with broken ankles on the ground. Pickens then pulled a hesitation move, which enabled him to separate from another defender as soon as he started picking up speed.
Then came the Coup de Grace. When George Pickens saw that star cornerback Trent McDuffie was about to tackle him, the receiver jumped high to hurdle over his opponent.

Eventually, the Chiefs’ star managed to get a hold of the Alabama native’s left foot, which brought an end to the latter’s impressive 39-yard catch-and-run.
George Pickens catches 2-point conversion after setting up touchdown
After George Pickens single-handedly dragged his Dallas Cowboys to the end zone, running back Javonte Williams completed the drive with a touchdown score.
But that was not enough for the home team, especially with the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense were playing, leading head coach Brian Schottenheimer to signal a 2-point play.
After receiving the ball, Dak Prescott was waiting for his receivers to get open. When the Chiefs closed him down, the QB had to spin out to his left to avoid being sacked.
At that moment, he noticed that Pickens was a step ahead of his defender and threw him a dart. The wideout managed to not only catch the ball but also ensured his feet were inside the end zone before he fell out of bounds.

Those two plays helped America’s Team swing the game in their favor and ended up winning 31-28 to celebrate with a Thanksgiving turkey as they advance in their quest to reach the playoffs.
