The Dallas Cowboys, the 2023-24 winners of the NFC East, found themselves out of contention for the Super Bowl this season, despite the victory against the NFC South’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys, after a rocky beginning to the season, which saw a poor offseason bristled with injuries, looked patched up and put together in the close and narrow win over the conference rivals.

The merry cheer in the air and the Tampa Bay win had the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones breaking out into a giddy and small dance. The Cowboys’ owner is apparently making most of the close wins against bigger teams.

Jerry Jones had been at the receiving end of hate throughout the season. There has been a constant call for change in the management from the fan’s side. If anything else, Jones watching his team being obliterated on his birthday would have been painful. If Jones is of a harder skin, there’s the whole spiel of drama revolving around their head coach or the one where he had to deal with a broken sheet falling off the stadium.

There’s a hint of giddiness in his steps, though a win over the Bucs would have meant much more if the mathematical possibilities for playoff contention were still alive. However, the Commanders’ narrow victory over the newly crowned division title holders, the Philadelphia Eagles, ensured that any remaining hope was extinguished.

In the media availability after the game, Jones admitted being proud of the boys and the way that they played the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The octogenarian also showered praise on Mike McCarthy, whom he is strongly considering retaining despite the poor performances in the postseason including the non-qualifying 2024 season.

I’m proud of those guys. They refused to give up out there, and I’m really, really proud of them. And Mike McCarthy—he just won’t let them stop believing they’re playing for the Super Bowl. He just won’t let them. I’m so proud of that.

Despite three consecutive playoff appearances, the Cowboys were eliminated from postseason contention with three games remaining, marking their earliest exit since 2015. With two games left on the schedule, they face the division-leading Philadelphia Eagles (12-3) next week, followed by a regular-season finale at home against the Washington Commanders (10-5).

Jerry Jones invites media attention with unhinged dietary preferences talk

Jerry Jones has a unique talent for staying active and engaged—especially in front of the media. He consistently makes headlines in one way or another, keeping his name in the spotlight, whether it’s tied to the Cowboys, himself, or football in general. The giddy dance and Mike McCarthy’s admission are just a few of the news stories that keep Jones’ name circulating.

The long-time owner recently admitted to having an unhinged dietary preference. Jerry Jones’ latest appearance on Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan took an unexpected turn, when during the conversation, Jones revealed his unusual taste for raccoons and squirrels.

The discussion seemed to stem from a mention of Carolina Panthers rookie Xavier Legette, which somehow led to Jones sharing stories about his past experiences with these unconventional menu items.

Legette had shared on the “St. Brown Podcast” earlier this month that he’s eaten raccoons before. Back to Jones, he admitted that he and his family have a history of hunting together. He went on to add that consuming raccoons is a common practice, and brains are his favorite part of eating in a squirrel.
