Despite the collapse of last season, the Dallas Cowboys entered this season with an air of overconfidence. After stumbling to a 7-9 record and a playoff-elimination, it’s high time for them to learn from their mistakes. However, comments from owner Jerry Jones suggest otherwise.
After the breakdown of this season, head coach Mike McCarthy is considered to be sitting in the hot seat despite the continuous support from the owner of the franchise. The rumors and speculations surrounding McCarthy’s future in Dallas intensified with the Week 18 game against the Washington Commanders.
In a recent appearance on 105.3 The Fan radio show, the Cowboys 82-year-old owner addressed the ongoing rumors concerning head coach McCarthy with a 1-3 record in playoffs. He dismissed the rumors by stating that the decision has already been made with respect to the team’s long-term vision and shall have no effect from the upcoming Week 18 game.

The Cowboys’ General Manager refrained from indicating whether the decision regarding the coaching staff’s future would involve extension or dismissal. Going against everyone, Jones gave McCarthy a chance to prove himself this season and as he approaches the end of his contract, the pressing question remains whether the Cowboys will give him another chance.
