Jerry Jones already had a sketchy image among football fans, but his popularity hit rock bottom after he muddled the Micah Parsons contract negotiation. Parsons took a drastic move by sending in a trade request.

Naturally, the Cowboys fans are angry about their owner’s antics. Last year, Jones did not sign star running back Derrick Henry even though he wanted to play for the Cowboys. Jones blamed it on Henry’s lofty wage demands.

Fans also witnessed Jones dragging Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s contract extensions. It took them nearly the entire offseason to work out a new deal. Micah Parsons is facing the same treatment from Jones. The owner/general manager of the Cowboys refused to deal with Parsons’ agent, setting off a feud that resulted in a trade demand.

On the ninth day of practice at Oxnard, California, the Cowboys fans let Jerry Jones know what they think of his approach to handling Parsons’ negotiations. Fans chanted ‘let’s pay Micah’ as soon as Jones entered the camp.

Fans also waited patiently to catch a glimpse of Parsons. Doubt crept in among everyone about whether the 26-year-old would even show up at the camp. Parsons came, but he wasn’t wearing his number 11 Cowboys gear. He wore a navy-blue hoodie, shorts, and shoes. Cameras caught him speaking with the quarterbacks.

Former Cowboys wide receiver supports Micah Parsons’ stand against Jerry Jones

Right after Parsons announced that he had sent a trade request to Stephen Jones, former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant posted a video in support of the All-Pro pass rusher. Bryant blasted Jones for mishandling the negotiations and thanked Parsons for his unwavering spirit. He said in the video:

Hey Micah, what you are doing… The message that you’re sending, the business that you’re standing on—it’s extremely major, brother. The guys like me, the guys that came before you, we failed; we failed tremendously at standing our ground…I remember being in that situation like you—nervous, scared, don’t know which way to go, can’t trust my support system…Much respect to you, for real. Do what’s best for you.

Bryant wants to see Parsons wearing the star helmet once again. He added:

I pray that Jerry and them do what’s right and pay you what you deserve, you are an incredible talent, you are a superstar. You’re worth every penny that you’re asking for.

Jones must have observed or overheard Bryant’s remark. The seasoned owner made a subtle criticism of the former 88. Jones remembered handling Bryant and his representatives, hip-hop artist Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, in 2015.

Bryant replied on a tweet, threatening to open old wounds.

JERRY JONES I DONT THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR S—T.. ON SOME G S—T. WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THATS WHAT WE ARE DOING…. do not mention my name about s—t. The love hate relationship is real!

Jerry Jones must trade carefully, or he might have to deal with an angry Dez Bryant on top of the Parsons situation.
