The Dallas Cowboys overcame a 21 point deficit in the second half to defeat the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. In the aftermath of the win, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes his team can still qualify for the playoffs.
For the Cowboys to get anything out of the Eagles game, they needed to stop the Eagles from scoring points. That plan of action was scrapped quickly as the Eagles took a 21-0 lead within the first 20 minutes.
According to the Associated Press’s Josh Dubow, the Cowboys were heading to their 128th loss while trailing by 20+ points in the first half.
Quarterback Dak Prescott had other plans. Prescott initiated the Cowboys’ comeback 20 seconds before the break. He threw three consecutive touchdown passes, surpassed Tony Romo as the Cowboys’ passing yards leader, and set up Brandon Aubrey to kick the game-winning field goal.
The Cowboys won 24-21 and improved to a 5-5-1 record. The top seed may be out of the Cowboys hands, but owner Jerry Jones believes that a place in the playoffs is open for the taking.
Very much, very much so… This game tonight, this was our season where we were in front of the country, this afternoon and an opportunity to play the number one rated team.

The Cowboys stopped the Eagles from securing a clean sweep over them after losing on opening day. Jones claimed that his team completed the unfinished job from that game on Sunday.
On that we thought played really well against when we opened the season but for whatever the reason, we haven’t been playing as well as after we’ve played them before.

The veteran GM praised the defense, which has been under the scanner throughout the first ten games. According to The Ringer‘s Sheil Kapadia, the Cowboys defense restricted the Eagles rush game to just 63 yards on 18 carries and did not allow a single 10+ yard run.
Today was the Eagles' worst rushing success rate in a regular-season game under Nick Sirianni.

They ran 18 times for 63 yards and did not have a single run of 10+ yards.
They have not been a good running team all season — all the way down to 22th in success rate.
When we got into this game tonight, I saw us making the kinds of mistakes we were making then certainly that was a downtime. The players on the field didn’t let it be a downtime, I tell you that. That defense, I just can’t say enough about. They rose to the occasion. They are playing with each other….

Incredible come from behind victory for the Cowboys against the Eagles
A week earlier, Brian Schottenheimer bagged his fourth victory as the Cowboys’ head coach with a win against the Raiders. Even though it was a morale-boosting result, Schottenheimer was well aware that the Eagles are a different beast altogether.

Despite the Week 12 fixture being a home game, the Dallas franchise was viewed as the underdog against the NFC East leaders and the provisional NFC number one seed.
Things got off to a rocky start with back-to-back fumbles by the home team that led to the game’s first touchdown for the Eagles through AJ Brown. Brandon Aubrey missed a field goal from over 50 yards, just his second miss of the year, and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts followed up with back-to-back rushing touchdowns.
Prescott had never won a game down by 21 points in his NFL career. In fact, the last Cowboys win in that regard came in 2014 against the Rams. Prescott looked to modify that stat.
The Pro Bowler threw two touchdown passes to George Pickens and tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford and dived into the end endzone for one score on the ground to bring the Cowboys within two points of the Eagles’ total. Aubrey buried a 42-yard field goal to secure a memorable win for the franchise.
Dubow tweeted the win was only the Cowboys’ fourth ever after trailing by 21 points.
Cowboys improve to 4-127 all-time (playoffs included) when down by 21+ after beating Eagles 24-21. The other wins:

34-31 vs Rams 9/21/2014
41-35 vs Washington 9/12/1999
30-27 vs Saints 10/21/1984

Prescott finished with 23 completions for 354 passing yards (63.8%), 2 touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown and 1 interception. Pickens caught 9 passes for 146 yards and 1 score.
Next week, the Cowboys take on the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12.
